Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers
Oesdog sorry to hear of your loss,We had to get rid of 2 dogs last week because they would not stop killing our chickens. I had hoped they would be like momma and protect the chickens but after thwey startedf killing the chickens she joined in ,so they had to go.Now we are back to normal and the old girl at least leaves the chickens and the ducks alone.
Rancher while you are in texas could you check out a rumor I heard.I heard that the pidgeons fly upside side down over Texas because there isn't anything in texas that is worth pooping on! Just look up a little bit but just in case it is not true gaurd your eyes!
Thank you all for the fathers day greating,Yesterday I cooked pot roast on the grill for dad and BIL's father and FIL 2 beef roasts and 1 pork roast together all smoked and delish everyone ate their fill and went home fatteer than they arrived.
Have a great day God Bless!

I hear you on this one. I had two inquiries Sunday about my Craigslist ad.
They both came in AFTER 11 a.m. Dh and I worked outside on Chicken chores from 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Sunday.
I contacted BOTH individuals, around 7 p.m., only to find out that they had already found chickens and that I took "too long to get back"

REALLY? ? ?
I spend more time asking questions before I purchase chickens and I definitely would not expect someone to respond immediately back to an email inquiry.
I always allow a day or two before wondering what the deal is.....

I am sad I missed a sale, but not sad that my chickens didn't go to a "spur of the moment purchase" home.

Does this make sense ? ? ?

Dh and I are BOTH thinkers. We couldn't make a decision that quickly if our lives depended on it.... Just not in our genetic make-up.

Hello, folks! I know what you mean, Math Ace - I'm a 'researcher'. I get ALL THE FACTS before I make a decsion. On occasion I do things on impulse, but it's rare. I'm sorry those people lied to you, Oesdog. I remember how much you liked those boys, and it's terrible they didn't consult you first before killing them.

I just got back from my roadtrip with my parents. The weather in Ohio was wonderfully cool. We visited the Amish country and admired the beautiful farms. Lots of horses and buggies out. Caught glimpses of a few chicken coops. Went up to the farm where my mother grew up (my cousin his family are working it now). They were shearing sheep, so that was fun for my son to see. On the way home we stopped for two nights in St.Mary's to visit Cumberland National Seashore. It took 14 hours from Ohio, and bless his little heart my son didn't complain the whole way! What a good traveler he is. The smoke was terrible around there too - I wasn't thinking about that on the way up. Math Ace, I swear it seemed worse today! The park was really neat, but my eyes burned from the smoke after being outside all day long. Hot, too.

Now I'm home and have hundred chores to do, but no worries - at least work isn't one of them for now. Time to work on the house and new coop. Have a good one!

Thanks for that - I did love my boys. Apparently the fellow was laughing and telling folk how he stretched one of the boys necks. It is horrible to think of because they were pets!!!! PETS!!!! Not for killing. I would have done it myself if I wanted that. He probably got mad at Duck cause Duck being a maran was a bit of a bad boy and sometimes pecked your hand if he got scared. I don;t know about Red but was told he is dead to. I am so upset about it as I would have kept them you know how good they were and even Duck would lay on his back in your arms and get cuddles and tummy tickles etc! I miss them so much. DH was really sad and says he misses the babies too.
We are looking foward to the new chicks but they wont be like our boys.

Oesdog
