Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers,
Sorry Chicks about your hen, and your crappy week.We all ahve them from time to time. One of the good things about this thread is that we can share with the ones who care and understand the situations.I know you worked hard to get to the point of hatching and it seems that the disapointment is all ours.I had thought that my black malard was going to hatch a clutch, and even got excited about it .Then one day she got up and left all the eggs and never went back,Iguess this is how it goes.
I sell all of the chicken eggs I can,"which only amounts to about $15.00 a week ,Doesn't pay for the feed really" so I don't try to hatch any.We tried to let one broody hatch some last summer and she did the same thing as the duck.Oh Well what ya gonna do?
Have to go to work now,God Bless!

Morning People,
Chicks - Sorry about the bad week you are having. It will change and make the most of it.

Looks like we might have some cooler weather moving in for a bit. Mid 80's to low 90's. I never thought my shop was such a mess, but it was. I'll have to admit, when it comes to wood and tools, I am a pack rat. Most of the scraps will go into the wood stove this winter, the rest on the burn pile. The old rat is "moving out" and the better half is in a funk.

Stay cool and enjoy the day

That was hard.

Tomorrow we are leaving for High Springs, were we will spend the night and go tubing down a river. So that should turn my week around and take my mind off things. Sigh.

Sammy is out there looking in the nest box like she can't figure out where the baby went. You know what else I thought about - I know they are just chickens, but no matter what kind of Mama you are, hearing your baby cry non stop and being powerless to do anything about it is stressful. I think this may help Sammy, too. That had to be affecting her. That chick just cried non-stop. Now she can relax and focus on the other four. Still sad, but it was for the best.

Good morning chicken wranglers
Oesdog August 18 is only a month away! What fancy little party time bash have you got planned for the little one?Rancher as for your Darcy,Will she be planning her own festivities again as usual?
I need to take a day off here pretty soon so I can get my work at home caught up.When I went out top feed the cows I could tell that they were lonely for me!My chickens were aloof and distant also.
Guys keep up the good work and keep us posted on the canning of jams and so forth. I would like to can wild plums this year, but they are so hard to pick, the thorns are Ginormas.I'll try anyway.Well have a great day God Bless!

Oesdog - What a sweetie!! She's a natural in front of the camera - too cute!

Getting some coffee and catching up on here before I need to get some groceries and finish packing up for our road trip to the springs. I'm excited to get away for a few days. Then we have a Japanesse exchange student that is staying with my Dad coming over for the day on Saturday. That should be interesting. If he is interested I think we will take him snorkling. In the evening my Dad is taking us all the the Rays game, then Sunday we are cooking him a good American Bar-B-Que, and I am making an apple pie for dessert. My Mother went to Guiana (spelling?) on a week-long church mission trip, so we're on our own this week.

Well, have a great day, and a great weekend, as I'm sure I would be on for a few days.

Good morning people,

The weather has changed for the better here (at least for me). Mid 80's during the day and upper 50's at night. Great sleeping weather, except the better half loves her quilt.

So you grand parents out there, are you winding up the grand kids and sending them home? With those nice noisy toys? I think when we start having them, I am going to feed them straight sugar, have them bouncing off the walls......

Chics: Enjoy your trip to the spring. Is this a camping trip?

Oesdog: The last picture is great, you are going to have your hands full.

Dr. appointment today to see if I am still alive. Another lecture about eating to much, to take it easy with the old crate, it has to last the rest of my life.....

Our little rat is coming back for a few days in a week or so.

Enjoy the day
