Good morning people,
Looks like we are having another warm day with thunder storms tonight. I always liked a good thunder/lighting show. The HR at my old place of employment called last night, looks like my replacement has quit. It felt like he was "feeling" me out. He's going to be calling again tonight. I haven't heard from him since January.

Chicks: I have no problem using my picnic table as a work bench. I make the ones with detachable benches, which gives me 2 work tables.

Karl: Enjoy your time in La.

Karl sorry to hear about your friends. Loss is never easy. Reminds us of our own mortality I guess.

As for your duck it could have been a snapper. I didn't think about it at the time but i found one in the yard a while back. Not sure how it got in but there is no water for swimming in the yard just the chickens and it's fenced in. SIL tossed it over the fence.

Chics - try to remember what you were like at that age and remember "Blessed are the merciful for they shall obtain mercy".. It's kept me from killing a few.

Oesdog - your not forgotten say hey to DH for me and I hope everyone is feeling better every day.

Que - hope things are going well. Be careful of the lighting. Lord know it can travel pretty far.

I've been real tired after doing jams and jellies. Standing makes my back hurt. One time I was up til 4:30am trying to get things done before the berries spoiled. I don't think I'll pick so many next time.

Henry and his parents just left for home on Sunday. He's cute but I'm not one for tiny babies. I like them a little older like Darcy. Her and I got for walks together. She's starting to walk with out holding on to things. They're supposed to be moving out this month and I shall miss her. Her parents not so much. SIL did help me with my new hoop coop yesterday and I did appreciate that. Also when he mows the grass. I've learned to keep silent in my old age.

Hey guys, remember me?? I haven't been on in ages, just don't seem to have the time!
I don't have coffee as its nearly midnight and i really should be in my bed! Had a late one last night as got to bed at 1am (watching a film!) woke up at 4am as heard a strange noise, went to investigate (hubby sound asleep in bed!!) only to discover one of the chinchillas had escaped and i had to catch her otherwise she would chew everything!!! Got back to bed and took ages to get to sleep then was woken at 6am with a chicken who had decided to roost in a tree (and i hadn't counted them when putting them away!) and she was cluck clucking like mad, think she was wonderng where everyone else was!! Then of course i had to get up and let the chickens out a wee while later.
I have about 20 chicks just now at various ages, they are annoying me by flying out the run lol. Need to sex them and get the boys fattened up!!
How is everyone??

Hay - Tartannik great to hear from you. - we thought you had been gotten by a Haggis!
Glad you have chicks I have managed to get only two live hatches and then the darn hen killed them both just after! Now all I have is 6 in the incubator which are due to hatch Tuesday. I don;t however give them much hope as the incubator decided to go mad and went up to 108 at the start which I think though I cought it pretty quick they probably got hard boild!

Good Morning, peeps! Good to hear from you, Tartanik. And of course you are welcome to visit our 'coffee house', Paradise found.

Rancher, one of these days I'm going to try canning. My Mom used to do it all the time. We need to find something to can together so she can show me how. I should go out to the berry farms in a few months when strawberries are ripe. I don't know if I could grow enough stuff myself to can things. I was at the duplex I own yesterday and realized that one of the trees is an avocado tree! I need to take a bucket of chicken poop over there to see if it will produce more than just the one avocado I can see on it. And I agree, the older babies are much more fun!

Oesdog, I hope you get something to hatch. I have had some poor hatch rates this summmer, that's for sure. And I'm still pretty positive that Ginger killed her only hatchling, too. Now she's acting like she may be going broody again - and no longer laying - I told her ABSOLUTELY NOT!!

I've been busy painting the kitchen in the duplex- including the cabinets - before I get new tennants. I sure hope whoever they are are cleaner than the last ones!

Queercus, I wish you were closer - I need your expertise. It looks like I need to make a false drawer front for where the sink is (the other one was cracked and gross), and I need to figure out how to use a router to make it curved around the edges. My dad says he has one, and a bunch of blades for it, but has no idea how it works....

Oh, and I pulled the thach pieces out of the boxes and there are little clips along the top. I figured out that floor moulding is just narrow enough at the top for the clips to go onto, so that is what I am using to put it up. When I get to it, anyway.

Rancher, how did you jams / jellies come out?
This was my first year doign it. I liked it so much that I will do it again next year.
I don't think I let my jams boil long enough... so they are a little runny. So, I will
do it better next year.

Chicks are you going back to work at a school this year or something else?
I am taking another year off to take care of dad. I will have to resign my position. They won't extend my personal leave for another year.
It means I will lose my tenor and will have to re-apply if I decide to come back to work for the same county.
It is an easy choice though - - family or job ? ? Family will win every time!

Quercus21 Wahtcha been doing? ?

Osedog - - anything going in the garden or is it the wrong time of the year?
