Oesdog Get another hen and have her lay.If you don't have the problem with the new hen,"You must keep her separate from the others",
Then cull your remaining flock!
I know this sounds horrible but the hens must be the problem if you have eliminated the other possibilities.Sometimes the hens becopme carriers of unpleasant infections that they themselves are immune to.
I am not saying run out and do this immediately,you must eliminate the possibilty that they are the problem.

Karl my girls are not just chickens. I did not buy them for their meat or eggs. They were a gift to me when I myself was at risk of being the one with a terrible desease Cancer. I got the all clear after 8 weeks and 10 chickens! These girls will never go to slaughter like that. And anyhow my Bertha is only just back on her feet and she is my broody for next years meat birds! As I said these girls are my babies - never said anything about not killing the ones I breed up for meat!

Karl best thing you can do is pray God heals my hens and gives me good edible eggs! - DH says -" tell the nasty chicken person your not talking to him again

Soory, O I didn't mean to offend.It is just all I would know to do next after all other avenues were exaughsted.
On a brighter note it is only 19 days befor christmas! I do so hope that DD brings tyhe kids for Christmas eve,and spends the night.My poor wife odesn't/arwe for it because of the extra work,but I love the excitement that little children bring into the holiday morn.

Karl Know what you mean about the kids for Christmas. We just did a combined Tday and Christmas with my 3yr old grandson at his house in Maine. Love to have the kids come here, cousins and all. All the excitement and energy they exude. Love to have them leave all the quiet in their wake.
O hope your eggs are doing all right. My girls know they are duel purpose, I hope that gives them incentive to keep laying.

There is one I could get attached to. SIL who got me going on this insanity couldn't kill a fly if he fed it once. Funny thing is I sit and hand feed mine there treats and he only goes out and collects eggs, fills feed and water. Go figure. Different folks different strokes.

I know doing a cull on a deseased flock is the best thing! But I don't think at the moment that is the reason here for the bad eggs as all the girls seem healthy and well apart from the little one who always sneezed and must have had at one stage IB cause her eggs sometimes are a bit funky shaped though none of those have ever been an off one? She has been here for a good 18 months and is still the same old girl. She was a walking skeliton when I got her and so I give her a lot of tlc. Maybe I will never fully get to the bottom of it. Anyhow I haven;t had any bother with these eggs recently laid but then they have been in the basket for a week tops before getting eaten so they have not been left as long as some of the others.

Anyhow Karl - were fine with what you said it was good sound advice! so stop worrying I am not about to chase you down or anything like!!!!

Yes Christmas is fun with kids and I am looking foward to it. Jessica is at an age where she will appresiate it so much more this year!

Frost out on the pumpkin this morning.I've got loads of work to do befor I rest today.I pitty pour Deb,When I'm on the couch drinkin beer and restin she is makin the dinner and cleanin the kitchen. She is the best wife a guy could wish for.It's gettin cold out so I went to the walmart and got her a pair of wool socks and ankle boots to wear around the place.Cannot have her comin to bed with icey feet you know.Nothin is more dissturbin than havin your bed turned into a refridgerator on acount of you forgot to get yer wife socks and shoes fer the cold months.And what with all the wood needs choppin and animals need tendin I thought it right fittin that she get a brand new pair o hobb naileded boots fer the holiday season.I hope she gets out and gets us a right fittin tree for the harth soon, just don't seem to jovial with out the smell of evergreen in the house around the yule log yaknow.I tole her she could borry a pair of gloves effen her hands gets blistered from anything,caint afford to have her let the house get a chill because the wood pile gettin low, Oh how I loves the holiday spirit! all the givin and gettin just makes me gush!

is being really enjoyed,
Karl i think i did get rid of the pesky possem poured some plaster of paris
down his hiding place and havent seen him since. I hope he nibbles and got thirsty
then we all know what will happen.
Oesdog sorry about the egg situation, I check for for eggs every day and never allow
them to lay over night as a 40 watt blub in there with them and that may get to warm for the eggs to lie around in
I have been buying eggs for the last 2 months and
low and behold I find 5 yesterday..hooray..
I just wipe up the eggs with a dry paper towel. well is everyone preparing for the kids
to get over for the christmas holidays I am so looking foward to all the hustle, bustle and noise

and of course the cooking
