X 2, I am drooling over the description....

Where you at KARL? Do you want to come to a nice warm place for Thanksgiving....Say Florida. North Florida ? ?

I've got the grill and hickory chips and turkey waiting on you....

Seriously, that sounds delicious, Karl! It's even warmer down here!
I have spent all morning chopping and slicing, and now I'm taking a break before finishing the cleaning. Whew.
As it turned out, BF's father is having a bout of virtigo, which lasts for weeks for him, apparently. They don't know why he has these spells, and now they aren't going to make it tommorow. So the out-laws will be joining us, instead. Whatever will bewill be......

Yesterday i baked a apple cranberry cake, praline pumkin cheesecake, and my grandmothers pecan pie. Sure hope people show up for my little 'dessert party'.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone! (except Oesdog- you just have a nice regular day).

JUST RUB IT IN WHY DON:T YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

At least your little Issue with in laws and outlaws got sorted. The Good lord knows what he is up to!!!!
Hope your day goes good!!!!!!!!
I mentioned that I am getting Virtigo too a few pages back it really is awful - the longest I got it was 4 hrs. So weeks like that I don;t know how he copes. I do know a friend who suffers from it too and the Dr gave him an injection to counter it. Not sure what it was but I am wondering if your BFs father really has to suffer it for that amount of time as if there is an injection available here it may well be there too???? Get BF to look into it rather than have his Dad suffer. Truely it is a very nasty sickening condition. Like being strapped to a roller coaster and not being able to get off!!!!!

Anyhow am away to pluck a Pheasant!! More wine on the go too!!!!! We have to create our own fun here in the absence of thanksgiving!!!!

good morning chicken wranglers,
I trust we all had a good day yesterday,I know I did and I pray you all did.
The outlaws where well behaved for once and I fell asleep during the inlaws vist so that went very well.I ate turkey wed and thu, and i still feel bloated.I had no pie at all,but I hardly think it would constitute the start of a diet since I indulged in all sorts of great food.
Oesdog,Hope your regular thursday was special in some great way.
Chicks I am glad you got to visit the outlaws.I remember the days when we had to go to the DOC to have our family reunions, and how we would whatch america's most wanted to see what the other side of our kinfolk were up to now and then. Now everyone has turned over a new leaf gotten much cleverer, and stays out of the long arms reach. Aw shucks those were the days!
God Bless!

funny, Karl. I though someoneon here mentioned having virtigo, Oedog. It does sound miserable. The doctor gave him some type of medication, but apparently it doesn't help. He also lost his hearing in one ear, so I don't know what is going on.
We hada nice holiday, and I've eaten way too much all week long. We even went to a freind's "second thanksgiving" last night! NO MORE STUFFING OR PIE for me, please. I don't Want to get on the scale......

Chicks - the hearing loss is probably a lot to do with the Virtigo. As ballance is an inner ear thing. My ear drum was burst - I had a bad infection in the ear and had to fly back from the states this was in 1997 and as the plane came down my eardrum burst it was incredibly painful. Unfortunately I couldn't tell the pilot not to land so had to enjure the exploding ear drum. It healed after a few months but has never felt ok since. I do have a bit of a fear of going on a plane with ear ache now!!! So I am thinking having had ear issues for a good while that may be something causeing my bother with virtigo at the moment???? I am deffinately getting everything checked out before I fly again.
Though the Dr had a good look at the ears and couldn't see anything a-miss. So I have been reffered to the Nuro unit to get other tests done which should be fun trying to find my only working brain cell! Which blinks on and off randomly these days!

I have eaten far too much recently too. I put on half a stone since comming back from Spain. So I am going to have to start being good again. Thing is we have Christmas comming and well - I pig out big time on Turkey and Ham so I guess I am dun for - the scales will deffinately Shout "FAT!", "Get off" or "one at a time please!"

Better away - family is comming over for dinner. The brian injured boy came over and we couldn't get rid of him already (He mucks his times up!) So anyhow he is going home for a few hours and I am trying to rest up before they all decend again.

Anyhow you guys I was wondering if you could look at a problem I posted about my eggs and see if you guys can come up with some answers???
Here is the link as I really don't want to write it all again here. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=602597

It shoulds like some kind of bacteria infection . .. . I would start in the house first. Where ever you are storing them.... CLEAN it spotless.
Use bleach or some kind of sterilizer. Eggs are porous and something must be getting in them causing them to rot. Toss every egg you currently have and only put FRESH eggs in the NEWLY sterilized basket. . . . or use a totally new container.

If that doesn't work... then you will have to go to the other end of the egg production - - The laying nests themselves and do a total sterilation clean out.

I suspect that a egg got broken while you were gone and the clean-up wasn't "Spic and span"!

For grins, you might want to clean the entire counter and throw away any old sponges ( or sterilize them) too.

I know that the only two eggs that I didn't have hatch from a broody were two eggs that she pooped on.... I believe with everything in my heart that some of that bacteria got through the egg and stopped the chic developement. . . I think you might have something like that going on

Thanks Math ace. I have disinfected everything here. I changed the basket and cleaned it out too. I even used other containers and it still happened. It is all very strange and worrying. I can;t do a good clean of the coop right now. I have cleaned them out and put in new hay and wood chips. But to actually rinse the coop down would be madness in this weather it is seriously freezing here right now and the coop wouldn;t dry out! That would end up with things being so much worse for the girls.

I only have 8 eggs left??? - Still I think I can smell OFF egg from them. They were laid in the last 7-10 days. What a waist!!!!!!! Just when the girls are going off the lay too!!!
