Coffee's ready...

Good morning chicken wranglers,
I think hot pepper in the eye is the worst of all places. Genitalia is bad but the eye is worse, try rubbing it when you are in the garden picking the peppers and there is nom ilk for a few hundred yards, ouch does not even begin to qualify as an expression of agony!
We have my brothers boy with us ,he is from Texas, and a real city child. Last night we picked wild plums for jelly, he ate most of what he picked . I cannot say that I blame him they are good this year. We are prepping the plums all are pitted and in the fridge tonight the sugar and pectin process begins hope it turns out.
God Bless!

Your nephew will have no problems with bowel irregularity after all of those plums.

Two subjects here.

One: They were talking about salt on CBS this morning and I was surprised to find it on the list of ingredients in my Half and Half, that I put in my coffee. What's up with that?

B. I saw something near my coop this AM and found another Groundhog under there. There was one under there years ago when I first got chickens. I whizzed in his/her hole each night and it left, or so I think that's why it left. What would I use for bait, if I should set a trap?

I don't mind it being around so much but not under the coop. I am a bit concerned about rabies. Would it attract predators ?

Any Groundhog stories ? Vehve, do you have Groundhogs in Finland?

Apples, lettuce, sweet corn, green beans - all should be attractive to a ground hog. Nope - not a predator attractant.

Woodchuck story: We have a heavy clay soil and hard underpanning here so have very few woodchucks. They drown out in the winter. Several years ago when rabies was epidemic in the area I went outside to fire up the grill. I saw a very large chuck along the hedgerow, and when I clapped my hands he started ambling towards the house. I quickly went inside for a gun - the Princess says, "He's at the steps." My non thinking reply as I arrived with my 22, "Get the "H" inside. She stormed by steam coming out of both ears. Shot the possibly rabid woodchuck and spent the rest of the night apologizing and explaining.

Well now rabies is my concern. As for where he is, we get very wet here and ducks would love it. I don't own a 22.

My thought was to trap it and move him/her along. I did have a Fox attack earlier this summer but no sign of one lately.

I used to see rabbits but none this year. There is a cat that comes around to mouse, so I figure it got the rabbits too.

I don't upset the wife. It can be hazardous to my health.

Way back in the early years (probably first year of marriage) a friend was helping me do something in the apartment. 'E' started to make some sandwiches for lunch. My friend says, "No, no mayonnaise goes on the other side, and tomatoes go near the meat, and -----------------". The Princess finished my sandwich, moved the fixins in front of my friend, and said, "Here, Fred you can make your own." Early on I knew what my lot in life would be.

Morning,

Ranger Hick: I know what you mean. And what's with the corn syrup in everything. Our affection for sweet and salty foods. The better half is always reading the labels.

Good story Sourland.

Here's another one for you... Way back when I had hair, I redid our bathroom.. Everything was removed and redone to the specks of the "boss". The last thing that needed doing was obtaining a toilet seat. I don't know about you guys, but for the life of me, I can never pick the right thing, something is always just not right. So off onto the quest of finding a toilet seat. Upon going to the plumbing section and seeing a selection of about 30 seats, I realized I was wrong before even picking one.... What I decided to do, was get the butt ugliest one they had. One I knew she wouldn't like. Brought it home, installed it and waited. Well to this date she hasn't asked me to pick out or pick up anything for the house.

Splitting wood today.

Enjoy your day

Kaj
