Coffee's ready...

None of our daily set of coffee mugs match. Most have "stories". This helps remembering whose is whose when bumbling around in the am. Sometimes I find a cup on a bookshelf or window sill a day later. My cup today is the one I usually use - white with a blue english type floral print. With a big ol' chip near the handle. Not sealed.
Having different cups comes in real handy. DH went through a stage when he came back from Philmont putting hot pepper sauce in his coffee. Drank that by accident. Once. Now, there's an eye-opener!

Wash vs. rinse depends on many factors: Do I have a load going in the sink? Did I forget it on the bathroom windowsill behind the curtain until it was alive? Do I suspect the cat of drinking from my cup AGAIN?

I have two coffee mugs my sister bought several years ago. Big story for this early in the morning, but you asked.
My little brother lived with my sister for several years after, how shall I put this, moving out of my father's house. After running with the wrong crowd, drugs, etc, they argued, he left...and no word for 15 years. We (my sis and I, not our folks) kept an eye out, occasionally when she had extra money she'd hire a PI to try and find him.
Ok, so 5 years ago or so, she decides to give it one last fling, come out to my part of the country, me & her go on a sister road trip in a borrowed red convertible and go look up a few addresses and mostly generally just have a good time away from the daily grind. She'd call it quits after that, no more money down the drain - we figured with the screwy things that happened growing up, we wouldn't blame him for staying away. SO...
We get to this little middle of now where community. Look up several rather scary addresses. No luck, go back to the hotel. Before we go to dinner, we look through the phone book and start calling (very common last name). JACKPOT shocker! sobs, yes we want to meet, where?
We told him where we were staying.
Well, he says. Walk out the back door. Through the parking lot uphill side. See that house next door? I live there. I will met you right now. and there he was... wow.

So, my sis bought coffee mugs from the hotel as a reminder of one of the weirder stories of our lives. And that's the weirdest coffee mug story - we have some with rather funny stories too.

Thanks. Good Story.

MY favorite mug was designed for The PHX. Blues society. I have had it for several years. I bought it as soon as they went on sale. I spent the whole day with that cup strapped on my belt watching the concert, having a few Beers. I was so used to it hanging on my built that when I got undressed I forgot it was there. Threw the pants with belt in the hamper. 2 days later I am searching all over for said cup. GONE! no where to be found. Washed clothes the next day. Would you belive I still didn't see it. (so much for being in a hurry) Well it went through a wash, rinse and spin and didn't break. Anyhow I found it when I took the clothes out of the washer. Boy did I feel stupid. That is the cup I am still using. Alas now it has a chip. You know I think I'll keep using it.

Stupidbird, that is a touching and very cool story. I hope you have kept in touch with your brother....
Texasgal, I hope you don't have what I had. I promise I tried to keep it up in MA, but you know germs, they love to travel.
Pati, you seem awfully cheerful this morning, hoping some will rub off on me.
HollyO, enjoy your car trip, this is the best time of year for driving. Everything looks so beautiful.

My husband just called from work and told me last night he heard a noise outside, and when he looked out there were 4 big raccoons eating the peaches that had fallen off the tree on the ground. Great, one more thing to worry about! That peach tree is only about 40 feet away from the chicken coop.

Hope everyone enjoys their day, it is beautiful here today. By the way, I have a rooster coffee cup that I picked up at Marshall's (I love that store), I use it everyday- and I wash it daily because with 3 boys and a husband around we are constantly doing dishes!
