I would have never thought of putting chili on Sweet Potatoes. I will try that. The only bad part is having just the Sweet Potatoes from the store.

Sissy, Sorry your DH is still so sick, Poor Guy.

you guys sure need some prayers and hugs.

Karl, I bet your flock just loves to see you coming with something in your hand. What will you do now that the garden is done? I swear that chickens have very good hearing. I just step, 1 foot out of the door and they all come running toward me, talking all the way. They are so funny. As I walk they are so close to me that I am always stepping on some one's foot. If they are in the pen, I can't get in the door. Mine are really spoiled. With only 7 it is real easy.

I wish that you guys that are blessed with all the fall leaves, would take some photos, so this old desert dweller could see some trees in color. SIGH!

Good morning Tonopah Pati! oooh, black walnuts, yum! I'm still tucking in the garden after all the frosts. I'm leaving all the old kohlrabi and such for the chickens to have later in the winter. I have to keep shoo ing them off my collards. They might be the only ones eating collards, but I have to try them homemade myself before I declare that open feed.

Sorry, no posting of photos until the laptop is fixed. I can't believe this computer is so old as not to have a USB port! It still has a floppy drive! The family geeks have really outdone themselves with rebuilding this one.

Mamagardener/sissy, hugs for you both. I had chronic bronchitis with bouts of pneumonia for years. My sister swears by onion packs on the chest to clear up the lungs; she only told me about that recently so I haven't tested that yet.

Good morning chicken wranglers!
I had too much coffee already. My flock is still hanging on for left over pumpkin ,as it gets soft I step on it and break it up so all the birds have a chance to get some.
I think that when the balance of goodys are gone I may lose my fan base! Right now they seem to relish my presence. Perhaps I can feed them mice this winter to keep up my popularity. There is a never ending supply in the garage and the barn all winter and I have traps!
I got the series Dark shadows from net flix and I have been traveling back to 1966 on a nightly basis. How many of you can remember the series? My brother and I used to play outside all day and run in to watchit at 3:00 religiously during the summer.

OMG! I used to watch Dark Shadows. I missed some shows because of work. There was no recording the show for later in those days.

Stupid Bird, I love Collards also. Do you grow Swiss Chard? I just started eating The Chard and Beet Greens. I have a local Organic Farm close to my house. He is open only in the winter and on Sat. all day. His veggies and fruit are to die for. Lots of other organic vendor's there also. From Buffalo to Pork, Chickens to Beef. Goat cheese. Just all kinds of stuff. Rob talked me into trying the chard and beet greens. I had been buying the Beets (Gold and purple type) The gold you can steam, get them cold and eat cold. They are so sweet. It is like eating candy. YUM,YUM. Your PC is really old. I threw away all my old floppies no computer that I could use them on.

We enjoy the old series that we can get from net flix . We just watched 2 seasons of Mr. Belvedere and it is somthing we can watch with the children that is more decent than anything on television nowadays.

Good morning! It's been such a busy week. Right now I am writing from a national mathematics conference, sitting in an auditorium waiting for the speaker to arrive. It's a big convention hall and there's a wireless set up. It's heavy lugging the laptop around, but so handy for touching in with you all. And taking notes and answering email, etc. We are never too far from work, are we? My chickens are being well looked after while I am away, although they are not getting any free range until I am back home.
The homecooking sounds wonderful and so much healthier than I have been eating here!

Have a great day everyone!

Karl, That is the kind of movies I like to watch. I have the Turner Classics channel on my TV I watch that lots. I just watched the Egg and I, and 4, Ma and Pa Kettle movies. I laughed so hard. It is so good to watch things like that. Just think about watching a whole show without a single Cuss word, Blood and guts, killing and sex. I know lots of folks like that kind. I'm just one who does not.
