Argh! I couldn't imagine!

I've been baking, filling out Christmas cards, finished up canning a few jars of salsa for a private order... about to start baking again after my lunch break. Lets just say, if you need a boost and you don't have coffee on hand, try some Thai Basil Shrimp... it will wake you up and open your sinuses up to boot! WOW! I can breath today!!!!

Lucky you...Ive been wanting to learn how to can. My garden was a flop this year. Im a beginner, what can I say...

Oh and btw my DBoss brought me some starbucks!!!! Crisis Averted

Some folk are sounding like they are right into the Christmas stuff cooking and all sorts. I have not gotten that far yet.
I still have not sent out cards so will need to do that soon enough.

DH has had to take Ben out to do some of his Christmas Shopping and they are going to visit with Mike our eldest boy. I am not entirely sure what he is at for Christmas.
Last year I got a 5 page rant about how it is all just commercial and how he doesn;t believe in it and isn;t going to get anyone anything cause its just a way of getting folk to spend money when he can say he loves us at anytime?????? Well in the end he came and did get some nice things for us. This year he was supposed to go with his partner Emm back to France for Christmas but he didn;t go so she has now done that lonely trip 3 yrs in a row on her own. DH is trying to find out what is going on with him this year. If he actualy believes in Christmas and family etc or not?????? He is 25yrs old not a child!!!! Quite frankly I just simply need to know cattering numbers!!!!
SO that is on the adgenda today.

Wee Jess is down on her playmat and is giggling and chatting away.
Rancher how is Darcy doing???? Jess cut a tooth already!

Well I am away for a bit as I need to get myself sorted for the day and I am really looking foward to a nice quiet Coffee with no one but Jess and I here today.
I was thinking of Soft boild egg and toast for lunch - now my girls are laying again.

I thought I would have my husband to help me this weekend get all this stuff knocked out, but he's started a trial run for a job I'm kind of iffy about. So now I am the only working hands in the house.... and I have a 3 1/2 year old who can not sit still. This is going to be an interesting couple of days coming up... that's for sure!

And all with only 1 more week before my Mother-in-law flies in!!!!!

Good morning chicken wranglers
I went to the local sale barn wed. I saw full grown chickens sell for 2.00 american dollars. Good price for stewing hens if you are into that kind of thing.
I bought 7 cows, 2 heffers and 5 bred cows. Next wed I'm going back for feeder calves. 4 or so is what I wish to buy, for market next year.Wifey thinks I'm nuts but she doesnt care she still loves me. Holiday coffee is great. My delivery of gevalia got chewed up by the 2 pups . Lucky for them I salvaged the contents or they would be headed for the meat grinder right now. If I catch those 2 on my pool cover anymore they will suffer the chain. If mama catches them they will go in the meat grinder.
Sounds kinda harsh for the holiday season but life on the farm is.
Oesdog that son of yours may just be alittle rebelious.I am still for putting Christ in Christmas myself.I can't help but think of the passage about raising your children to go on the right paths and after they mature they find their way back. Kinda like Churchill said," If you aren't conservative befor you are forty you have no heart' if you are after ,you have no brain".
I know it isn't an exact quote but if shiws the difference between the young ,and how they think and what happens to us after we actually expierence life.
We don't go overboard on gifts for the kids and we don't buy anything that is not practical for the adult children,Toasters, stuff that they need as young start out couples.yaknow.Unless they need new GUNS for hunting and self defense and killing things out on the farm.
Can't scrimp on firearms ya know.God Bless!

Good morning People,
Woke up to another cool morning, 9degs and it's suppose to warm up to the upper 20's.

Getting ready for the last show of the year this weekend. Nice easy lazy day. I already went to the mill for 100lbs of feed. I wont be around when they run out. I have to haul some more wood to the house today. It's bad enough seeing the chickens cold, they can't complain much, but.... I got my hands on some standing timber, cherry, red oak, hickory and maple. No climbing involved, just smash and crash. That is going to be my January project.
I started putting the chickens water in their coops this morning so it will last all day. Yesterday, it seemed it would freeze by the time I returned to the shop.

vfem: It must be nice to have a mother-in-law fly in, mine lives 20 minutes away. My father - in - law is 70+ so I am the only "working male" on that side of the family. I have thought about changing my name.

Enjoy the day.

I would say yes he is rebelious.
We only get the Adult kids practical things. Dotty got a whole heap of things for the Kitchen you know like a Blender for doing the Baby food. That sort of stuff she never had. At least Mark and Dotty are making a home>?

Anyhow thats me for now as DH is away getting chips - I am tired and don;t want to cook!

Hey folks, Waterers were froze this am and had to make extra trip to bring them water. Still have to clear some snow but didn't today it is way to cold for my old bones.

Went shopping instead and bought some hostess gift type stuff. We have a party tomorrow.

DD called to say cat got into office and nabbed a chick. The only EE and I was mad as a wet hen. I keep telling them to keep the door closed. I forgot I was in LL bean and I hate cellies who talk so loud the whole store can hear. I'm afraid I may have been to loud now that I think about it. I wouldn't have been so upset if it had grabbed the "gimp". As it turned out the EE seems to be fine and of course so is the gimp. I just don't have the heart to wring it's neck and know I should.

Looked at some diamonds for DW. Just dreaming I guess.

Well take care
rancher
