Coffee's ready...

Sissy - Wow I can understand the electric bill being an issue. - Someone said on BYC that chickens are fine down to - 15/ -17 so I wouldn;t worry about them too much just more important you keep your money to heat the humans in your house!!!!!

We are set for another bout of freezing bad weather again here so were battening down the hatches. My car wouldn;t start today at all DH says it was the cold ??? I never had an issue with her before today and it didn;t occure to me that I might have so I better watch that in the future and remember to take her out on a run to keep the battery going. Poor DH had to push her up the drive to plug her into the charger.

Day has been quite busy here so I am about to head off to bed I think!
You guys still have a good bit of your day to go yet. I remember looking at the clock earlier thinking oh its 7pm here they are only about 2pm in the afternoon. Its difficult to remember I am so far ahead of you guys sometimes.

Minnie, my female rat terrier woke us up this morning. My wife said she needs to go out, thing is this beloved dog of ours is azzbackwards sometimes. She'll tell you after she goes! Yeah, she tells on herself!

Sweet little thing (Ha! we call her "Pork Chop") God bless her she has epilepsy and has to be given Phenobarbital twice daily, or she'll have seizures.

Makes her very hungry though, all she wants to do is eat.

So I'm up early cause I had to clean up her dog poo, it was runny too, poor thing must have eaten a little too much chicken poo yesterday!

Why do they do that!!!!!!!!!!

Do yours eat chicken poo?

My chow eats it too, my male rat terrier doesn't, he gets a gold star for that.

Just got back from a long trip to Randleman, North Carolina, took 13 and 1/2 hours to get there, same back. Beautiful town!

I usually don't go for the energy drinks cause they give me the jitters but I needed something for a pick me up.

Java Monster! These go down smooth and didn't give me the jitters in the least. Can says coffee and energy, don't know exactly what's in there but it worked for me and no jitters!

Ok, so why do two of my dogs find chicken crap irresistible?????

This is almost too gross to fathom!

I had a dog who ate cat poo.

I was told that it is a natural cleaning urge. It is especially common in FEMALE dogs.
They are the ones who have to clean up after the puppies

Morning People,
Coffee's ready
Weather: Woke up to 18deg, with highs in the upper 20's

We had whooping of a snow storm here (sorry Rancher). Depending on which side of the "drift" you were standing, maybe, stretching, both eyes closed 2 - 3" of snow.

Sissy: We just went through low 20's during the day, and single digits at night. Our coops are well insulated and the chickens are doing fine. I haven't had to change their water twice a day yet, it has been staying liquid during the day. I do bring it in when I close them up.

Oesdog: The young group isn't squabbling anymore. I think if I put them with the old grouches, they would lose. Mr. Roo is about 3 times the size of Rhubarb, so there is no match there.

Enjoy your day

Ok this may be weird but my chickens eat the cat poo when they find it. Now our cat is old and fat he doesn;t seem to be interested in burying it anymore and leaves it to the chickens???? -

My girls all but gave up now I got a couple of eggs from Bettey one from Mable but still none from Omlet. - I am in the same bother in that I find the big ones hurt the little ones if I try to put them together. Only all the laying nests are int he coop in big girl land!!!!

Hope yours gives you eggs soon???

Good Morning! Just a quick visit to the coffee shop before a busy day of getting things done before break - TWO MORE DAYS!!
I have two half-dozen things of eggs to give away today (I decorated the cartons with christmas tissue paper) - they each have three marans eggs that are so big the carton doesn't close right. I hope she keeps laying one a day so I can keep giving them out with the baskets. People just love them. I'm seriously considering driving way back out to where I got her from to get her sister. Maybe I'll find out if she is laying as well as this one, and if her eggs are as big. They aren't supper dark, but they are a nice color and have some speckling. Still no green ones.......

I always feel a bit warmer when I read all your posts about how cold and snowy and icy it is up north/ accross the pond. It is colder than we are used to here, but at least I don't have to deal with that.

Well, gotta get busy. Have a great day!

Good morning chicken wranglers
lots of wintry wonder in my neck of the woods. The cows remain unimpressed and still sleep out of doors.
oesdog my pups eat cow dung and when the chickens are ranging they love to clean the once run through corn out of the pies. Not uncommon for chickens to eat eachothers dropping on occasion.Don't worry you cant taste it in the eggs.
Or the meat for that matter.

Well I was a wee bit worried about that!!!!!!!! Thanks.

Just a wee question. - You all know I have 3 roosters. Well the big one Duck is not that nice and crows and shows off a lot but hasn;t actually done much Roo type stuff yet.
While the BIG red ( Nugget) He wont stop well doing it with Gerty and Caroline. Caroline has not laid since the molt and Gerty is a Maran so I would have liked Duck to have fancied her? Actually I think I did see Duck mount the Red Sussex once - but they are the wrong way round???? Do thay kind of get to like one or two hens and just stick with them???? Wee Blue and Omlet just tag alone with eachother and Blue fights any of the others who go near his Omlet? Yet he has never mounted her yet and she isn;t laying. Nugget is a bit of a porn star in the coop right now - he just wont stop!!!! Everytime I look at him hes on top of another hen.

Oesdog ?

Should I be concerned or is he the Roo I should keep????
