Hay Karl - great your on - NO threat !!!!
As you say No need to defend the Lord why would I do that????? God provides and shields from stones of the oppressor as you have reminded. He needs no protection from me for sure!!!! He is the master of defence!!!!! What am I in comparison to him.

Every Blessing indeed my brother!

Turning the channel to the hatching in progress. .. . well not yet!
The eggs go into lockdown MONDAY. I will do one final candling this weekend.
I think I have about 9 eggs that are duds
sad.png

That still leaves 24 eggs.

The children had a late night band rehersal tonight. We didn't get home until 10:00.
Tomorrow up early for school. . .. . We will surely be dragging.

I am hoping to spend some time working on my chicken coop tomorrow!

Everyone sleep well. .. . Enjoy the coffee... .
I take mine with 2 afterficial sweetners, 2 squirts peppermint flavoring, and 1 tsp creamer.
Yep, it don't taste much like coffee when I get done with it

Good morning People,
I hope this finds everyone doing well and surviving the spring. It looks like it is going to be another nice day here. Stripers are on the move (river is a bit muddy) , beer is cooling in the fridge, and burnt food is in order for this weekend. All the birds are laying, we are getting up to 11 - 12 eggs a day.

I am allergic to the chemical compound in artificial sweeteners. The ole heart can't take it.
Enjoy
Kaj

Morning, folks! I don't like the artificial sweetners, either. Sometimes I get a headache from them, depending on which kind. I like my coffe black.

Quercus, I swear when I read that post for a moment I thought it said "strippers are on the move, beer is cooling in the fridge"

What are stripers? Salmon?

My girls are all laying again since having fowl pox, except the two broodies and the Marans. She is still on strike, and I've promised two friends they could have some Marans eggs! I owe one of them as a repayment for a scarf she gave me.

Yesterday I came home and silly Sky had escaped her enclosure and was sitting in the original nest box. I put her back into the make-shift one, and she was still there this morning. If it keeps happening I'll put her eggs under Ginger.

Keep us posted on the hatch on Monday, Math Ace! Want a run down of mine?
May 14th - 11 Speckled Sussex
May 17th - 6 Auracanas and 6 Olive Eggers, which belong to my friend
May 23rd - 2 tiny Sumatra "freebie" eggs
May 25th - 8 Appenzeller Spitzhaubens and 2 LaFleche
How did this happen? Chicken math and poor scheduling....

I'm going to candle tonight, too. All but the ones due out last, as those just went in. BF is out of town and that is my exciting Friday night activity. Never, ever thought looking at eggs with a bright flash light would be what I would look forward to all day on a Friday!

Well, gotta get to work.

Good morning chicken wranglers
Qcus, mathace, chicks, nice to have you light up the thread. All that incubating has to be tiring.
Qcus good luck on the river and with all the burnt food, and chics stripers are a hybred fish that get up to 20#'s or more!
Have a great weekend God bless!

Oh, sounds great! fishing and BBQ! Strippers are sooo much fun! When the spring shad run is on...

We are loading up the smoker Sunday. Tents and tables go up Saturday.

Oh, they are bass! You would think I would know this, being raised with two brothers and a father that all love to fish. I enjoy it too, just don't go as much as I used to.

Well, I'm a bit down this weekend. It was in the newspaper yesterday that nobody in our school system that has been there for less than two years will have their contracts renewed next year. They may hire back a lot of the teachers, but I won't have a job. My boss e-mailed after she saw it in the paper to say that 37 of us social workers are gonners.

So I guess I'll be looking for something else to do. I was finally feeling like I know what I'm doing there, and really started to love working with those kids. I'm more sad than worried. Plus the program will be almost completely cut and these girls (and boys) really need us.

Then I candled my eggs and it doesn't look like a single Speckled Sussex egg is developing under my broodies.
