Just want to say GOOD MORNING before I head outside to work on the new coop.
We are working just as hard on it this weekend as we can, so I am not getting much computer time!

Good morning People,
Forecast for this week, no rain!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Osedog: now the fun begins.............
I heard a good saying last night. Something like "Days are long, years are short" when it comes to raising children.

Rancher: I am in Tivoli, a tad bit northeast of Kingston. I am suppose to be out in Ithaca at the end of September. I know what you mean about the strawberries. They weren't to good around here. We spent $24.00 on a tray (we picked) and made 14, 1/2 pints of jam. I am going to put a bed in this fall. I might be getting the plants for free if I want to remove them.

Karl - welcome back

Math: more coops? you sound like my better half.

Enjoy the day

Good morning everyone,

First , welcome back karl

Que - is that Kingston , Canada? Well anyhow , you'll be traveling so give me a shout as you pass through. Let me know if there's anything I can do chicken wise. Orps should be laying by then and of course I have the Dels. I got information on berries and have to call the two farms that may have them.

For those near or in NY there is a Lavender Festival July 9 and 10th in Skaneateles. You can google it and find information. Looks to be a good time.

Oesdog - looks like Jesse was born near same time as Darcy. Aug 25th. They pretty much are hitting the same milestones at the same time. Darcy can read and write now, how's Jesse doing?

Math - hope all goes well with the coops. I got two started but when the pain starts at night I wonder if I'm headed in the right direction. It's either build the coops or get rid of the BRs and Orps. I've already sold the silkies. DW was not happy about that, but then she's not going to help clean and feed and all that either.

Well Take care friends, be good

DW doesn't help clean and feed ?? ?

The chicken thing is all my doing . . . so are the gardens.
Everyone participates....

Dh may not get to the coops today because he is help Dd on the computer....
However, there are other chicken things that need to get done and I don't want to waste the opportunity.

Ds and I are heading to the woods to chop down some bushes to run some field fencing for the chickens.....

I cannot get my DW to help butcher she will clean wash and freeze but no choppy the headies:he:he

Well I did get DW to pick berries today but that's about it. She don't can , clean or none of that. She does cook though and very well I might add. Well she does clean the house. I mean birds and gardening and all that. That's my thing.

We picked strawberries and raspberries and red currants.. Now I just gotta do the jellie part. She don't do that neither. I'm off to look up recipes, jars are washed and just gotta do the other parts what ever they are..

Oesdog - Darcy is helping clean and wash the berries, she's to young to go near the stove yet. Oh and she's learning Chinese, what with the economy and all.

谢谢

Take care

Rancher

I'm determined to grow strawberries next season (which is winter down here). I've tried a few plants before, but this year I'm getting serious about it. At least a dozen plants or so. I can't believe little Jessica is already walking, Oesdog! She looks beautiful in her little dress. Rancher, that drive/ day out sounds just wonderful. What are you doing working on a holiday, Karl?

I got some work done on the coop/ roost structure this weekend that will go inside the aviary so I can let the chickens free range in there - instead of my garden. BF helps here and there with the chickens, but for some reason he has really taken a liking to the ducks. He has been trying and trying to keep that little pond clean for them, but so far nothing has worked. Tomorrow I am going to pump out the water again and start over. I told him if it is too much work we can sell them, but he insisted he wants to keep them.

My chick with the curled toes is only slightly better after removing the 'shoes'. Still can't walk, really - just sort of hops on it's haunches. It also peeps non-stop, which is worrisome. Not that loud alarm-style peeping, just a sort of quite peep peep peep peep..... Not sure if the little guy is going to make it. I was going to try and put it and it's hatch mate back with Mama Sammy, but I need to keep them in here a little longer and try to straighten it's feet out for a little while longer.

Well, happy Fourth of July, everyone! (Except Oesdog

) I'm headed to my parent's house with enough food to feed the entire neighborhood. It's what happens when I'm not working....

... pleny of time to cook... bacon wrapped shrimp, beef and veggie kebobs with a nice rub on them, couscous waldorf salad, vension chilli, and key lime pie. I don't think I'll need to fix dinner for the rest of the week.
