Coffee's ready...

Morning People,
That does look good osedog, can I get a big ole glass of ice cold milk with it? Something like that is worth gaining a few pounds. It's when it seems sometimes, just breathing you gain weight.

Chicks: Good to hear your swap went well and hopeful meet some good people.

rngbill: Good luck in your process and I hope everything works out well for you.

Counting the hours till peace and quiet returns to the house..........

Enjoy the day

Good morning chicken wranglers
Oesdog I hope I am not too late for cake! We attended my b.i.l.'s wedding sat. and had a great time at the reception. My wife and daughters danced all night. I joined them for a few dances but the music was out of my taste range.Everyone got loose on beer except my family as we don't drink anymore.
My other brother in law went home with his ex wife,It is hilarious to us since every time they end up at a wedding at the same time,They come with other people"dates" they end up going to his house together! When our niece got married she left her live in boy friend at the reception and went home with him.We always call him and razz him over it.Of course he denies all but it makes for goood material on joke time. Then he always swears up[ and down that he hates her but we know the truth.Truth is she is oh well you might know what kind of girl"bar fly" she is !Good laughs though .
God Bless!

Someone say cake!! I would love a piece of cake right now, although I should be in the barn. I got home from my bus run awhile ago, and put on a beef stew in the crockpot, and just got 2 loaves of bread rising. Put some wood in the stove, and now must get out and see my girls. It snowed last night, and it looks lovely out! But alas.. just like the rest of the winter, it snows abit, and then it rains. I wish it would stay about -7C, just like it is right now, with the sun out!
Heres a picture from last night.

Oes: yummy that was good. but weren't you the one who started the weight loss thread.. Today I strat the official appeals process to keep my chicks. wish me luck. file a lot of paperwork and a couple of large checks.

Good morning chicken wranglers
bay vista that is one pretty view.I love the gazebo covered with snow and the background vista.
Oesdog I am still ill and my own sabatour so you are one up on me.I wish I could kick this chest cold so
Ican start on the tread mill and run this belly off.Rngr hope the appeal goes in your favor. around here the story is unfolding also ,many communities are allowing chickens in the backyard becayse of the unstable economy.I read in a 1930's paper of a small grocery that kept chickens in the back of the store for the eggs,Few of us can remember the old nieghborhood grocers of the time before supermarkets.A nieghborhood was friendly and kids could run without worry of strangers and abductions. Life was less troubling and people looked out for one another, nostalgia is great isn't it.
God Bless!

Life was much the same here too years ago. Lots of things have changed for the worse I think. As you say there is a big difference in community and folk don;t look out for eachother like they used to. Heck these days you don;t even know who your neighbours are!!!!!!!!!
Dh has decided he is going on a really strict diet as his brother in law is beating him. So I am now confined to eating lettice!!!!!!! I don;t know what was worse????? Cake in abundance or lettice nothing but lettice ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chickens are out in the yard today exploring. Place is freezing and their pen is very wet again. All are doing well except wee Dorothy. Once again she has no feathers and is suffering from a respiratory infection. She is the one that was skeletal Dh rescued her. I just think she is very weak compared to the other birds and the winter weather takes its toll. She is laying but the eggs are always shell-less and are eaten by the other girls. She has the same food as the others and she does eat quite well. She is fast and small!

I am going to go tend the fire Dh just lit as I am freezing right now and slept an age today. I have been exhausted lately. I completely crashed for 3 hrs! Nothing is done!!!!!

My mother used to tell me how much safer it was when she was growing up, but I'm not convinced. Back then, if someone was mugged or attacked, only a couple dozen people on the same street knew about it. Now if it happens, people all over the world can know within minutes- information overload. So, instead of 100 muggings with 12 people knowing independently of each, we get 100 muggings with 10 million people knowing of all 100. We also probably have higher reporting rates and certainly better documentation.

So is there really more crime, or are we just more aware of it? I've seen some crime statistics saying overall violent crime is down significantly in the U.S. in the past 30 years. However, that doesn't sell newspapers- dramatic scare stories do sell newspapers.
