We settled on a contractor and was waiting on a start date until we got all the trees out of the yard that we wanted removed. In March, the roofing contractor started. Up until the roof was finished we had buckets in our temporary kitchen, upstairs attic and living room. We had started rehab in the dining room because there were no leaks in there.

One year later since Hurricane Irma in Florida and we are facing Hurricane Florence projected to make landfall here in North Carolina. We are about 40 miles inland from Nags Head.

We worked continuously to prepare for Hurricane Florence, it was headed straight toward us. Then it took a change of path and headed further south. We have been really lucky. The cumulative rain was actually less than we saw in the August 14 days of rain storms. We have been playing a little bit of musical chickens with having 18 meat birds to raise right now, but it is all good. I can't even imagine if we were hit like Wilmington has been hit by this storm. Getting back to normal here.

Glad you dodged the bullet on that storm!
