You're correct! It's stem pieces. They're gnarly when you find whole ones. lol

I prefer winter rock hunting personally! But yeah, when I was a kid and still lived on the West coast that most definitely could have been me! I seem to recall nearly giving my Grandmother a heart attack when I asked her to pull over because I saw lava rock on the side of the road.

Not all of us are kids .

Yeah, I just drive myself into the middle of the desert when given the opportunity.

Yeah, I had one specific young person in mind who has taken his poor parents out to the Nevada desert in June -- and who will LOVE this thread. He has been dying to share pictures of some of his rocks and to see stuff other people have. This thread will be a dream come true.
