Just searched "African Violet" on here and this came up!!!
I was just walking around a nursery and spotted a few super tiny flowering plants, turned out to be African Violets. So, being me, I chose the healthiest one, butt I don't have much room, so I got a 2 1/2 inch pot one. I read on the label, it was from woodhillgreenhouses.com. VERY PRETTY!!!!Just brought it home and read up on it!!! So excited! It has 5 deep purple blooms on it now.... can't wait for more!

I always had great success starting my african violets by just cutting a stem, covering a clear glass jar with aluminum foil, poking holes in the top and inserting the stems so they just touched the water. Worked for me every time. Always read that they didn't like water on their leaves but they sat under some hanging plants that required misting and the misting never seemed to bother them either... just goes to show as with everything there are exceptions to rules and often times things are not as finicky as we are led to believe.

Beautiful violets btw! what is it about this place?? I see a photo, I WANT... sheesh, I'm in trouble here~!

I have over a 100 potted plants in the house. Better half keeps saying I need to get rid of some. I cant begin to name half of them. My christmas cactus that I got from my mom are dieing off and I dont know what to do for them. They turn a darker color and then start looking like they are shriveled up and they keep falling off little by little. I'll try to upload a pic tomorrow.

I would love to have a piece of stag horn if anyone out there has a piece they would part with.

It sounds to me that your Christmas cactus aren't getting enough humidity. Try covering them with a plastic bag for a while and putting them on a tray of pebbles with water in them. Mine do that from time to time and it seems to help mine.
