What's your cut-off for a group gift for a co-worker? Does 3 people combining funds to purchase a $10 gift come off as cheap?

Does the group work at a thrift store?

Maybe you could all take her out to lunch, covering her lunch costs.
This is what my mom does with her co-workers. 3 pay for the 4th.

I guess it depends on well you like them.

I would say, being as you work at a University, and are not on the poor list, $10.00 from 3 people is CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP!

Maybe if you all pitched in $10.00, would be more appropriate.

Got this email today with a notification of this wedding gift off our registry :
Dear Jenn and DF,
Here is wishing you both many years of fun in the kitchen!
Our best to you both- (co-workers 1, 2, & 3)

I will, of course, write them a gracious thank-you gift.

I wonder who drew the short straw and had to pay the extra penny?

Did it come in a gift bag with tissue paper and a nice card? If so, add on some $. I am always dismayed by how much extra it is to bag a gift versus wrapping it. $5 per person is still a little cheap, though....

The bags look so cute, but then you need fluff, too. And you could reuse the bag & fluff, but it's usually obvious and some people are picky about those things.
