Collingwood's amazingly amazing chat thread!

Is Mushing like with sled dogs? Those all sound great. It's good to be well rounded. You never know what you'll excel at until you try it. So do you race your sled dogs or is it, just recreational? If I'm being to nosy let me know, I'll mind my own business.

Yes with sled dogs. I mainly do recreational right now because I don't a real team built up right now (I'm still in the market for dogs). If all goes to plan, I will be able to run a short distance race next year. My mentor is going to help me shop for dogs this summer. (Its cheaper to get them in the summer than fall or winter). I spend a lot of time on YouTube watching dog races and learning how to make my own gear XD.

That's really inspiring! It's really funny how the movies have the calls all wrong to control the dog team. I saw this dirty jobs episode where he went to a dog sled breeder. They covered the special food they feed the dogs and how they have to walk them on their hind legs, when they move them around. That sounds really cool. I wish you lots of luck in finding good dogs, with the right temperaments and drive. :D

Thanks!
Wait they had the dogs run on their hind legs or they have to the dogs walk on their hind leg when they are hooking them up? If it is the second one then I kind of do the same. The dogs can easily take ya down on all fours XD.

No, no just as they were taking them to be harnessed. That way they couldn't pull them. The dogs were very excited! They said it gave them better control over them.

Yes they are and they will trample a dog team because they think it is a pack of wolves. A bull isn't to bad, its the cows with a calf you really need to be careful of. If you have a hyper dog team and you see a moose you are in trouble.

Wow! The cows are more dangerous! That's good to know. So what is the procedure if to come a crossed one?
