Color genetics thread.

Okay so what your saying when you said you expected it to be black with one copy then later you expected it to be blue! You really meant that when you said black with one copy of blue that you are talking a blue chick already as the one copy of blue dilutes the black?

Okay now if I am ctossing my BLRW Roo or BLRW Splash Roo with my white Wyandottes which will get my the black or blue Wyandottes with no lacing!

Then if I cross those blue chicks or blacks chicks to each other then I will be just in the regular blue, black or splash gene predictions? Or will the lacing come back out from their background?

Also if I cross those blue or back chicks back to the BLRW or The splash again do I treat them just like the solid blue black splash genetics. Or again will the back genes of lacing from the chicks and the lacing in the one you are ctossing them back to again try to reappear!

Just interesting if I can have true blues or blacks appearing!

Hopes this makes sense how I typed this out!

I was expecting it to be blue, which is made from any number of black + one blue

I don't know as much about lacing, sorry I can't help with this one.

Do your wheaten coloring is showing up when you did not expect it too?

Wheaten needs 2 copies (one from each parent) to be wheaten. None of my easter egger girls has wheaten, so I won't get any surprise wheaten chicks from them and my rooster. What I'm seeing instead is surprise red (also called gold) because red is dominant over wheaten.
