Can't keep up somedays with the posts.
I'll think on it today and get something for the site tomorrow.
I have 2 colloncas and they are a fairly old breed and the parent stock of our araucanas, americaunsas, easter eggers. In a paper I read once, they stated that silkies are somehow related to south american fowl. Chickens were common in south america but not north.
Wow. I need to go there. That would supply the food for my chickens nicely just on eggs. At $3, I'm still at a loss this time of year as I only get about a dozen a day. $5 would be a break even point. Eggs in the store are getting expensive right now too.
Congrats!
Ash: Black Forrest mulch will be much, much closer and on Saturdays, they have a loader. The mulch itself is free if you want to bag it yourself or $4 to have a scoopful.

LOL. and the urban chicken legend grows......![]()
Were'nt they depicted on the infamous "Mayahn" calendar?
OOOH OOOH OOOH! Mayah, you could make up a chicken calendar and call it your "Mayahn" calendar..........Use photos of your birds in their best calendar poses.....![]()

(see http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1965514/ for an interesting paper on the subject of pre-columbian chickens)

I talked to a lady at church last week who does the Farmer's Markets in Colorado Springs. She told me that she would pay me my price of $3.00 per dozen, and then take them to the Farmer's Markets in Colorado Springs where they are getting an average of $5.00 per dozen. I was floored. She said that is what she and everyone else there is charging, and they sell out each time.

The babies are here! I'll have some pictures later tonight
Congrats!
Hi Wendell, where exactly is the mulch pile? Do you bag it, or is it already bagged?
