Colorado

I will be able to offer Beltsville white fertile turkey eggs in the swaps to come. I have four hens and if they lay like the one hen I had last summer I am going to have A Lot to offer. Hatched out 27 poults. 22 grew to adulthood.

Lowes & Home Depot were out, Jax was out, Wal-mart was out of 250w Red @ $9.99 so I got the 250w white for $4.99. Half the price...? I have yet to see 150w bulbs. Maybe they stopped making them.

They have clear 120's at lowes in widefield I bought one then returned it after I found a red 75w flood light at walmart. The 75 w light heats my brooder plenty and its 6'x6'. I set a thermometer under it and I have temps right at 95F. I actually had to raise it as it was too hot.

I ended up with a 125 flood light from lowes. It keeps the temp pretty steady at 95 about 16 inches away. Whats the difference between the red and white. Is the red supposed to be better for the chicks.

waiting on the call from the Feed supply saying my chicks are in.....<<The waiting is killing me.

I'm running to Denver today to drop off my family at the airport. Any must stop supply shops in Denver?

THANKS. I think I'll pickup a 75w flood light tonight. 16" is about the distance I have also.

Just gave pasty butt chick a bath. I don't know what it is but this chick and ONLY this chick keeps getting pasty butt. It coats down her backside and builds until it reaches her vent. I let her soak for a few in nice, warm water and then wiped off what I could. She still looks horrible but at least all the chunks are gone. :/. Any ideas why one chick would persistently paste up?

She does seem to have a penchant for sitting in the hottest spot until she pants, if that affects it... Going to try and find a 200W bulb tonight to help lower the temp.

In my experience, there is always one with pasty butt problems long past the others. I clip all the bum fuzz way down and it helps. Vaseline also helps for a while. I've got a little white silkie running around with a naked black bum, it's so cute.
