I've done both. They love them both, but I have to say I loved watching them chase the small crickets the best. Trying to remember (DUH) but I think they were 3-4 weeks old before I did this. Be sure you are offering them grit before you do this. Not sure it's much cheaper than the dried ones tho.Do you guys ever get crickets or live mealworms for your chicks? Where I am live bugs are more expensive than dried. Live crickets are 11 cents each if I remember right but I can get a whole bucket of dried mealworms for ten dollars, I think... I haven't bought any in a while so I am rusty on the prices.Do you guys ever get crickets or live mealworms for your chicks? The dried ones are really expensive
I spoke to Renee at Bartlett Feed in Falcon. If we can scramble together a 40 bag order, we can get 20% layer pellets for $14.10 per bag. Let me know if anyone would like to go in on a ton. I will make no money per bag on this order. If interested, let me know. I do have a paypal account.
i am in for 5 bags. That should take me well into the summer. Let me know when you need the cash.I spoke to Renee at Bartlett Feed in Falcon. According to the internet. It can keep up to 3 months then the fats in the pellets go rancid. I have enough freezer room at this point. I would bet I can keep it in there for a couple of months longer easily. Basically, you would need a cool dry place to store it.I honestly don't know. I would think it depends on how they are stored. Does anyone know?
