Colorado

This haze is too weird. It seems like only last year when Franktown caught fire. The minute I got home from relocating the horses the phone started ringing. It was peeps looking for a place to put their horses. I said 'you only got me at home because I came back for the chickens, puppy, kitties, and budgies'. The fire never made it south of 86. It just so happens there's a fire station on the corner. I heard people are actually tearing fences down due to the Black Forest fire so their animals can escape. What a nightmare.

Hope they get more of this monster fire contained today, weather is cooperating for now.

There is a large animal shelter that has been set up in Clahan at the race track??? I think it is across the road from the sales barn there in Calhan. As of yesterday they were taking in all kinds of animals, rabbits, chickens, horses, dogs, cats, cattle, goats, etc. Also, heard they are allowing those with RV's to park in the parking lot so they can care for their animals. Channel 11 News is where I heard about it.

Stay safe everyone!

Here is an email I got from the organizer of the Chicken Coop Tour, asking if anyone would like a Polish Rooster.....

Hello,

My sister and I were lucky enough to visit any of the chicken coops on the tour you organized last month….she had just raised 6 hens and a rooster from chicks and was so glad to meet others who love these creatures as she does.

Unfortunately, she lived in Black Forest, and while able to rescue her hens and rooster on Tuesday; since then we’ve learned that their house was lost….and they will have to live in the city for a time….
and so we need to find a home for the rooster. He’s a polish rooster and absolutely beautiful….

I’ve called the humane society and they cannot help – then I thought of you and wondered if you might have a resource or two we can try?

Thank you so much for your help,

Susan
