Colorado

I picked them up. All 12 survived and are doing fine. 2 pearl, 3 whites and 7 lavenders. They sure are noisy.

That is great, thanks for doing that. I know all of use were worried.

Thanks SO VERY MUCH, Percheron Chick - I'm so glad it worked out! My friend was just worried as heck about these little ones. Enjoy!! (I seriously think it's karma....

To those who sent notes last evening, I'm very sorry if you didn't get my replies that they were taken care of - I don't have a computer I can use at home, and I was trying to reply with my smartphone, which is apparently much smarter than I am.

COLORADO PEEPS ROCK!!! And - you know, I got to thinking last night about the "power of BYC" - this is the third time in the last year that I've been able to lend a helping hand with a situation like this. NEATO!!!

Did you try calling the post office and telling them the situation, they can give them water and food till someone can pick them up maybe?
She had done that, but the postal worker are not allowed to open boxes, even if given permission by the shipper.

Honeslty, if I'd have been a postal worker in that post office, I'd have risked losing my job to open the box.
What are Guinea Keets? And where is Bloomfield? If they're anything like parakeets there are a few extra cages. There is no shortage of birds around here, plus I have the day off, so I'm sure whatever they are they could find a nice comfy place here in Franktown. PM me, P:
Thanks so much for the sweet offer!
Minchi called the post office; they have been picked up already.

On a separate note; has anyone seen McMurrays started pullets? $16 to $18 per chick! And they are only 4 weeks old!!!!
I could be wrong, but I think they dub the top beak (clip HALF of it off so they don't peck at each other. It's VERY sad to see a chicken disfigured in this way.) Double check before ordering if this is something that bothers you.
On behalf of Wynette she was able to take care of the guinea keets. She wanted to thank everyone for there help.
OH GOOD - you did get my smartphone message. THANKS so very much for posting the update for me - I truly do appreciate it!!

WOW - SEVEN LAVENDERS? You LUCKY DUCK! OH, maybe I should say LUCKY HORSE! So glad they're doing well!!

What's your opinion/advice.....

I changed to all organic feed last Saturday (well still mixing with non organic food, right now till gone)
I was really hoping for improved laying but my egg production has gone down? I may have gotten 5 egges this week from 5 hens that should be laying. And most of the eggs are from the same 3 hens.
Does it take chickens time to adjust to new food?
I'm sure the heat this week may have a impact?

Any thoughts or advice is appreciated.
Thanks
B

I am in the middle of moving but as soon as I saw it I posted it. :) This really is a great site, I know there are a lot of birds that have been saved due to the kindness of everyone, and maybe some other animals too. We don't discriminate here.

Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where is a good place to get chickens in or near the springs? I intend on keeping them as pets and for the eggs. I am just starting out so any directions you could point me in would be helpful. Thanks

Well if Windy Ranch was having a better year.... I got mine from Elizabeth Country Corner but I know they are done for the season. If anyone here breeds I would suggest them before any place else. But if now one has any here you can try, www.mypetchicken.com

There's a buy/sell/trade section on this site - but for a quick, local response I'd post on the Colorado Chickens facebook group.
