Colorado

The Brighton swap is on odd months beginning March 13 so it will also occur in May. 2nd Sunday, in Ampride parking lot off Bromley Lane...across from the WalMart. BTW--I have one blue silkie chick and 2 bantam cochin chicks available. They are 2-3 weeks old, $3 each. The cochins are black mottled split to mille fleur. I may bring them to the Denver Urban Homesteading swap on Kalamath but am open to someone interested in them earlier.

There is a small swap this weekend at Earthdog Denver 370 Kalamath St Denver, CO at 10:00 am- 12:00 it is in the parking lot in the rear on Saturday.

There is also the big one in Brighton on 03/13/11.

==========
We already have plans for this weekend. Was hoping there would be something in April or May. Guess I'll just keep hoping.

As for the bator: I might get it out and try again. Who knows ... maybe just maybe I can figure out how to keep the temp and humidity steady! But since we met Joe in CS, we really don't need an incubator because he does an absolutely wonderful job! And once my silkies grow up, THEY will take over. Of course, since they are only 2 weeks old, it's gonna be a while. Come on, black australorps! You're almost a year old.... go broody!

If you ever need eggs let me know. My laying flock has a Cuckoo Marans roo over several different hens (only 1 of them is a CM as well) and I'm also breeding BCMS and actually just set eggs for a first hatch

Just PM me when you need eggs and we'll work something out

That would be so great! BTW, what is a BCMS? I realize its some breed, but I am soooo sick (darn 1st graders!) and cannot think of what it might be. I'm staying home tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be feeling better and can browse around on here more!

oooooooooooooooohhhhhh....... I guess it was just the "S" on the end that was throwing me. Or the fact that I have a fever.

My first grade classroom has 22 students and this week, 7-12 have been absent each day. So I stayed home today. I told the sub to drink Emergen-C before she came. The secretary said its so bad that she had 3 pages of kids absent the past few days and they sent a letter home regarding whats going around. So if I were you, stay away from GJ, we apparently have the plague!

Sorry, forgot to add: Aussie, your chickens and their eggs are gorgeous! BTW, we used to have a red heeler. After he passed, we made the mistake of getting 2 labs.... We can't wait for a heeler again!

What time does the Brighton Swap start? Is there mostly adult bird? Ducks and ducklings? Hatching eggs? If anyone has some first hand experience on the swap I would love to hear about the quality and quantities it has.

The swap starts early 7am. Its been quite a mix of ages & species. I've gone there the last couple years. Many chickens of various qualities--alot of hatchery birds but some of better quality. Many quail, few pheasant & turkeys. I've not seen many ducklings though....often have ducks who sell fairly early. Not much for hatching eggs but you can meet someone to arrange for hatching eggs later on. This swap can be good to sell meat animals or extra roos needing to go. Its very different from a poultry show.

I have some black copper maran chicks due to be sent here on 3/22. I plan on breeding them when old enough. Could sell you some eggs then if you want to wait that long. Don't know of anyone real close to our area with Marans. Have done a lot of searching. There is a lady in Falcon that advertises now and again on craigslist about having Maran chicks but she never responds to emails back. I have emailed her numerous times and so has a friend of mine to no avail. Let me know if your interested. BTW I am in Pueblo West.

I haven't started my Black and Blue Marans breeding pen yet this spring, but will have some eggs to share when I do.
I just have a pair, so will only have a few eggs, but don't intend to set them all.
The lines I have are from Bev Davis (Florida) and Wade Jeane (via Linda Hamid in CA).
Although I'm near Steamboat, I do get to Denver regularly and could bring eggs that far, at least!
