Colorado

I received your PM and I will email her to see if she has what I am looking for. It looks like the feed store in my area has BO's and Ameraucanas. I am still looking for BCM's and Bearded Black Silkies (for my daughter).

Thanks for all you help!

Hi there!!! I just joined BYC a couple days ago while doing my research on whether or not I can "legally" have chickens. *snicker snicker* But I wanted to come over here and say hi to you all, my fellow Coloradans.

HI! Nice to meet you all.

I'm in unincorporated Arapahoe Co. And just added 6 week olds to my daily grind: 1 Black Australorp, 1 Buff Orpington, and a Easter Egger, that I have a mad crush on. And to round off the mix is a 2 month old Rhode Island Red that is crazy curious about everything.

My husband went out today for feed and other misc... and he came home with my least favorite food company "Purina" Start and Grow. I did not even look to see if it's organic, I couldn't get pass the Purina part. Now, I'm not looking to start any arguments over whether Purina is a "bad company" or not. I'm just looking to find out where else I might find food-- preferably organic-- for my girls. Any suggestions?

Hi Corban. In my search for chicks, I found a hatchery in Hudson, Colorado called Fulenwider Farms. I don't know how much of their stock they breed and how much they buy from hatcheries. Here's their link: http://www.fulenwiderfarms.com/Waterfowl---Poultry.html

I
am placing a joint order with some other Colorado chicken lovers to Whitmore Farm. http://www.whitmorefarm.com/content/5063 We are ordering Welsummers, Anconas, and Ameraucanas, but they also have black and blue copper Marans and Delawares. If you (or any other Colorado folks) would be interested in joining our order, please send me a PM. We are coordinating delivery on both sides of the continental divide!

FYI - I believe Eric Fulenwider is still President of the Colo. Poultry Assn.

(Hi Jamie!)

Hi Gail! I believe I finally got the LORE posting down. I added New Castle, Silt, Rifle and Glenwood Springs.

One of my best friends married a fellow from Otis. They live in Denver now. I'm sure my friends know your friends!

my turkey hens are sitting a nest together! I don't know how many eggs yet, those girls are protective (hissing if i get too close) and rarely leave the nest even to eat or get water. And never is the nest unattended
I just had to brag!
