@21hens-incharge
I'm pretty used to him having zero consideration towards my feelings. He's my younger brother & very much the stereotypical Golden Child. Still makes me angry, though. It was hard to find a reputable breeder of Phoenix bantams, it was a surprise to get them because of my financial situation, difficult as hell to hatch, I just want an apology. He can't repay me for the time & money for feed/etc that went into getting 2 out of 7 eggs to hatch, but he could apologize, and start training the dog. :) If you come down to Brighton, I might see you there! I am running low of chicken supplies but don't see making to TSC until Saturday. Being yelled at all day for work just wears me out now!

@suncatcher
I love the way the feathers look on frizzles! They look so interesting!

No picture since I'm having a bad pain day this entire week (this weather!), but Memnoch is starting to grow his waddles! He's got these bright red stripes around each corner of his mouth. He's also started making his dinosaur noises only in the morning & at night, so I think he may be trying to figure out how to crow. Mercury still only makes chirping noises, which is okay since they're still inside right now. Also, molting is tough to watch! I can see the pin feathers coming in, but Odysseus just looks like he's in rough shape. I want to put bag balm or something on the bare skin to try & make it look less ouchy, but I don't know if that would actually help anything. He's still as ornery as ever, so at least it's not slowing him down any.

Odysseus got to check out my dad's work on his new house. The roof ended up heavier than he planned, so we have to add more ventilation elsewhere & wait for the rain to stop so I can paint it. We're going to attach it to the pen they're already using by a tunneled ramp after we move the old dog house out of the pen. I know my mom & dad aren't big on birds in general, so I'm very surprised & grateful they decided to make this their project. Thank goodness for retirees or I probably still wouldn't have anything built. Like the grow out coop that's half done. :/

Uzi,
I am not sure with this rain what the new plan is for Saturday. DH may say we can do the swap in Loveland or skip the whole think this month due to the rain.
Nice progress on the coop. Roofs can be really heavy. Between the wood and shingles man does it add a lot of weight.

I am sick of the mud!! We are in a mud pit around here. If and when it stops raining we will be putting a couple of loads of wood chips down in the chicken area and around the outside of the enclosed run and coop. That should help with the drainage in that area.

I too am anxious to get my garden planted, we have the seeds and such. Should be a good season with all this moisutre.

@uzisuzuki looking good on the coop progress. How great that your parents are helping you out, I am sure your flock will love it.

Here are some group shots of the babies. They turned a week old on Wed and Thurs, doesn't seem possible. They had a big first weeks they learned how to eat worms, scratch grass and dirt, eat fermented feed and they got the addition of straw and a log to their brooder. They are loving life! We definitely have some very obvious males, I need to count. I am hoping to move them to the small coop by Sunday is my goal. The weather has to cooperate some for me to work on the little coop. I am working on my heating pad brooder and I am using a wire tomatoe cage. I will post pictures when I am done. The person who started the heating pad brooder is in Wyoming and she had week old chicks in their run area and the coldest it got to was 17 one night and the chicks did fine. I am pretty excited to get this project done.

Here is perhaps my favorite little baby. I just love the chipmunk strips. My guess is this is one of our BO x EE crosses.

We recently bought two Rhode Island Reds, and then got excited and bought two Cochens. So the reds are about three weeks older than the baby babies. Unfortunately this morning I woke up to find one of the baby Cochens had passed away. The older ones have been separated from the younger ones, and she didn't look like anything had happened (meaning blood or obvious signs of disease or illness) Anway, I took her out of the baby cage once I found her and now her sister won't stop cheeping looking for her. It's breaking my heart. Should I find her another chick close to her age so she isn't alone? Will she be alright and bond with the older ones once she's big enough and everything will be fine? We're new to raising chicks, and I know things happen, but I feel really guilty about her passing away.
I would get her a little friend, they do better with another chick.

Such cuties! Yep, I would say EE mix on your chipmunk one.

Snow in the forecast, but I will take snow over a tornado any day! I too am waiting to plant, have some stuff started indoors, but way to early to put out yet here at 8700 feet.

Looking forward to seeing your heating pad broody!!!! :)

Nice coop Uzi!!! Little man is getting big! Yep lots of time and effort goes into hatching shipped eggs!

The broody is catching! ! So.. ya'lls remember that chicken condo my bf built me in November?

It is now the maternity ward. 2 broody muscovy hens and a white bresse and an easter egger is getting moved in to hatch some eggs.

I have another muscovy hen on 13 eggs in another coop.

Ducklings any day now.. I hope. I haven't candled any yet.. the scovies are very bitey if you try to mess with their eggs.
