Thank you for the kind words, everyone. I'm still pretty upset because my brother has been pretty disrespectful to me about the entire thing. I mean, his dog ate the chick right in front of me, left me a leg to bury & just says "I guess I wasn't watching her closely". No offer to try & make things better in any fashion. I don't know. I mean, I'm very attached to animals & the whole emotions thing has been out of control due to the brain trauma, but an actual apology would go a long way with me right now. Maybe I'm overreacting.
Here's where the remaining chicks are in their development. Memnoch (formally Frost) & Mercury no longer fit in 1 hand. Finally. I thought they'd be little hobbit versions of chickens forever. The other Phoenix chick chirped a LOT right after the other was killed, but now the d'Anvers chick has taken over that behavior. It sits where the dead Phoenix used to & just chirps as loud as it can. The little d'Uccle continues to crack me up with the leg feathers.
My dad & mom got the coop frame up & placed next to the pen. He also got the nesting boxes & half the roof built. I haven't had a chance to get started on the grow out pen due to the weather this week, but the M&M twins are gonna need a bigger boat real soon.
