Colorado

I have a broody question, we are on day 24 and our Cornish is still sitting on 5 eggs. I have not candled them. Will she just abandon the eggs after a bit, if they are not viable? or do I have to take them away? I am waiting to let Mamacita and the babies integrate with our 5 week olds once I know mama is done hatching. She is venturing out of her cage, I have the area under our second coop blocked off for her and the babies.

I have had Marans crosses hatch on day 24, so is possible, but I have had a lot not hatch on day 24! Sorry, no help I know........

Totally forgot about the nitrogen in Alfalfa, will have to mix some in.

And you won't. The local farmers still think we're going to pay $300-400/ton like we did 2 years ago. I saw straw on CL for $7. They're smoking dope. I bought a bunch last july for less than $50/ton ($1.35-$1.50/bale). You can watch and bid online. We can talk later if you want to split a stack.

Can you candle the eggs? Thinking some may still be good. I know my goose hatched some out LONG after they should have.

PC,
I was all set to head over to the feed store and see if they had any loose stuff I could get when I opened the lid on the can I was going to take there was almost half a bale in there. LUCKED OUT is what I did there.
They want 18 a bale for alfalfa and 8 a bale for straw at the feed store close to me. Kinda over priced IMHO.
I got the cardboard down under the leveled as much as I could box and the newspaper as the instructions said. Alfalfa is in and dirt is lol in progress sort of.
I only got one wheelbarrow of dirt moved before the sky decided I still had a flower blooming so needed more giant hail. To me ping pong ball size is giant. Nothing like tennis ball or baseball but sure strips the leaves from the trees and destroys flowers.
My chickens luckily are smart enough to know the loud sound inside the coop is not as bad as a pounding from hail. They all went in on their own.
I am determined to get the garden boxes all built and filled if I have to do it one wheelbarrow at a time over the rest of the summer. Even if I don't get much of a garden this year I think it is work well spent in making the boxes.

Well I think I know the answer to my question, mom was done she didn't go back to the nest after wanting out of the area I had her contained. She had no interest in the eggs after I showed them to her. She was off the nest for 5-6 hours today. She integrated with our 6 weeks old with no issues really. She terrorized the 6 weeks old enough that they all run the other way when she starts walking. We had a couple of the older ones peck one of babies so I guess momma wasn't too happy and chased down the little and pulled some feathers. It was rather comical to watch. I will post some pictures later...

Hi, I am looking for people that have call ducks for sale, please PM on kind of Call Duck/Ducks, age and the pricing on them? And if possible a number to call and area you are close to please.

Hey Phantom1.. Sorry I don't have ducks, but it might be helpful if you let folks know where you're located. At least that way a respondent will know if they are within reach or not.
