Edited: Found someone who has to get rid of her flock because she's not allowed to keep them in unincorporated Arapaho County - she has an EE for me! Hopefully we'll get it tomorrow.
Posting here just in case anyone in Co knows of anything or has any other advice about integrating a new chicken. I am willing to drive.
We recently lost our beloved barred rock to a Doberman who jumped my fence. She was 20 weeks - just about to start laying. My kids are crushed - we had a funeral for her. She was such a character.
I would love to find an Easter Egger or Americauna / Ameraucauna or Olive Egger - any blue or green egg laying chicken. My other three chickens are brown egg layers. We are only allowed four hens in Highlands Ranch, so I am down to three pullets. They are 18 and 20 weeks.
Ideally our new hen would be close in age to my other three, though I'm open to a different age. She must be tame; my chickens are loved pets. And don't worry: I have taken additional precautions to protect my chickens from predators from here on out.
I am in Highlands Ranch, but willing to drive several hours to get the perfect chicken for our flock. I am also flexible on the price, for the right bird.
If you or someone you know has a pullet in search of a loving family, please let me know! Tell her we have mealworms.
Thank you.
