I have got the design in the works for a 7 acre section that I'm fencing off with 5' welded wire and a "anti-cyote" cable 8" above the 5' wire fence. I am using 10' poles sunk 2-3 ft deep. All my little fences for different chickens, turkeys and garden will be sectioned off. I can then relocate the fence so the animals can move to different areas including the garden......if I can get anything to grow!!!

Good morning! I posted a month or so back that we will be moving to CO. My husband will be there without me for way too long! LOL Anyway among the thing he will miss is fresh eggs
lol.png
I promised him I would do a shout out to you all and see if there is anyone in or real near Greeley that would be willing to sell him a dozen or 2 a week? He will be staying at the Good Sam RV Park in Greeley. I will go with him to get him settled in and stay a few days. We will arrive there around the 17th of this month. If anyone is interested in meeting and or setting up egg sales, please PM me and I will give you our #s. Thanks so much

Well, We managed to get the coop / run about 80% complete....this weekend was more friends and family....

I should get it completed soon. I will be getting some chicks soon.

When I get the pics from the camera, I'll get a thread started on the Coop/ run threads....What is making this coop/run so difficult is I am making a tractor from a 12' X 12' dog fence with a 12' X 5' X 5" coop. All on runners to be moved with my Tractor. I have 1 cleanout door and 1 poop door to complete, then I have to install the roof.

Hope to meet up with some of you soon to get some starters or swap some stories.

I know just where you are! My best friend lives over on 40th, probably 10 houses south of you. I collect pallets also, I am lining my back fences with them, and various other projects, I am going to make all my animal pens out of them next year, we want to gets goats and pigs, then move on to larger livestock like cows and horses. Right now we only have chickens, ducks and a goose. I have found lots of really great ideas online for them. Nice to *meet* you, we will have to get together soon!

Found you guys!!! Hi we live on the western slope about 1 hour south of Grand Junction and near Delta. Anyone out this way???

It is raining today so had some time to wander BYC and look for chicken people.
We have a sustainable farm where we produce grass fed beef, lamb, eggs and chickens. My husband and I are Master Gardeners so we grow lots of veges for ourselves and our chickens. Have had chickens for lots of years. Started when our kids were little on the Front Range and now we are starting over here.
We started with some hatchery birds but have decided to go with heritage birds. In the future we will concentrate on Jersey Giants(got some stock from Bobbi Porto this summer) and either Barred or white Plymouth Rocks. We will play around with standard Cochins because they are pretty!!
So excited to find you. Thought that I was out here alone!!! Lynn

Nope, you're not alone.............I lurk around here some.

I am around Delta.....well, used to be quite a ways outside of Delta before the "powers that be" decided they had to annex everything in the county!!! Now my ranch is considered "city", but the ranch is protected from the city rules mostly.

Happy to see chook lovers close by.

There really is more to CO than just the front range.

<big grin> I'm on a private road the city doesn't want to mess with/maintain, so they don't have much to say about what goes on in my area anyway. And state law says they can't mess with ag.

Let's see...............there are almost too many to list at this time, am eliminating some breeds (grandkids lost interest) and making room for others and I'm sure I'll forget something in this list. There's sussex in light, coronation, silver, red, speckled, several genetic lines in each variety. Orpingtons in lavender, black, blue, lemon cuckoo, gold laced, all imports, varied lines in all. Marans in black copper, blue copper, birchen. A handful of LF cochins in black and blue. Sultans. Buttercups. Swedish flower hens. Blue Isbars. Peafowl. Jersey Giants - hatchery stock, were for a 4H project for a grandchild; lots of fun just the same and lots of eggs and meat. Seramas - grandchildren lost interest so they'll be going (anybody want some very pretty seramas, we're selling singles, trios, quads, at good prices!!). Just to feed the rest of the rare breeds and the family the layer pens are full of New Hampshire, Ameraucana, and Turken hens. And the one grandson who is sticking with his chosen birds has started groups of black and gold laced cochin bantams here. Ducks, geese. Probably at this moment, before the next hatches happen this weekend, somewhere around 1200 birds.

Have raised birds for over 35 years, and in the last 5 decided to move out of heritage to the rare breeds, and haven't regretted a moment.

Three breeds of goats with rare genetics in two along with many LGD's round out the current ranch roster.

Never a dull moment!
