Colorado

Welcome (almost) to Colorado chickychicky and to BYC!

I know that there is a Big R on Hwy. 24 NE ish of the Springs. It's actually considered in Falcon but close to the Springs.

Where do you get your feed?

There are 2 Circle F feed stores in Colorado Springs. One is on Union and the other is on Garden of the Gods. Their selection is a little limited, but since I get my cat food there, they do great in a pinch.

Your other option is Colorado Agri feed. They are an old school feed store with lots of different feed types. If they don't have what you want, they can usually order it. They are off of Austin Bluffs.

There's a few...Agrifeed, K and R I think the name is, off of 21st st. and the Circle f's come to mind right now.

Welcome to a (soon-to-be) Coloradan, and a new BYC'er!!

Do you guys rent or own your properties? Are they on acreage or in smaller backyards? I am just about DYING to have a few acres. I found some up in Hudson but just need the $140,000 to get them.

Go figure. I had thought about looking into renting a few acres but on top of our mortgage I just don't think that's doable.

I have a small back yard and will have 6 ducks by the end of today

I am meeting psicorp to pick up my 3 Welsh Harlequin babies tonight.

6 ducks is the max for my space. They have a pen they sleep in at night, but they free range in the yard during the day.

I've got my girls in the backyard too. Initially I was going to keep them in the run all the time but now I may think about letting them free range the backyard (60' by 27') when I'm out with them. I'll have to put them in the run otherwise as I've already had a couple of hawk flyovers.

I have 2 peking and 3 welsh harelquin (6 but 3 going to Wifezilla) and we have a pretty small backyard. Was going to build a pin but I have been letting the peking just freerange all day and night. So I might see how well that goes when the 3 welshies grow up to be on their own.

I wish I had the room for ducks... and the pond. Our lot is about 60 feet by 100 feet. The house itself is supposed to be 1300 square feet with an attached 1 1/2 car garage. So, we have a largeish front yard and a 60 foot by 27 foot backyard. I have been thinking about building a nicer version of a pallet fence but need to get a few other projects first. The coop needs to have the paint finished, planting veggies and fruit, adding a 2 foot river rock edge to the driveway so we can park 2 vehicles more comfortably; I'm worn down. I'm trying to complete all these things by myself AND still watch 3 daycare kids and my own 2 kids all of which are 6 and under. BUT, yeah, next week I'll be down to 1 daycare kid plus my own 2 so I might be able to get some work done around the house. I'm sorry to unload all this on you guys but, seriously, you are the only adults I can talk to during the day.
