I'm in Strasburg 30 miles east of Denver. I love having chickens and will setup my fold out chair and just sit and watch my chickies. I've placed random boards around and the girls will gather around waiting for me to lift them so they can run after the bugs. My sister laughed for days when I lifted a board up and there were tons of moths. Chickens were going crazy running after them and gobbling them up.
I'm in Strasburg too, and I do exactly the same thing with my girls. :)

What kind of ACV do you all use. Just generic brand, Del Monte, or do you get the actual "good" stuff like Mother's. Someone told me that was one of the good ones.

I usually use the regular kind, but I have heard that the infiltered stuff is better. Who knows?

I have been putting a mason jar of water in the freezer and replacing the water for there feet every 2 hours. They really like the cold water. I also keep a frozen bottle of water just under there drinking water tray. About every two hours it melts about half way and I replace the old water with the melted and put another frozen bottle under.

I will give that apple cider vinegar idea a try this weekend. Do you add sugar to help with the taste or is it okay as is?

I know. When my coop area reached 102, that's when I said I had to do something for them. The cheap ac unit is crapping out already as the filter gets overwhelmed with dust. It's a cheap one so it isn't user friendly in regards to cleaning the filter so I'm going to bring it back the first day that the weather drops closer to 80. That day has to come soon, right? I have 30 days to turn it in for a refund.

I am going to go from wood chips, I think, to straw. I hope that this cuts down a little on the dust. I'm going to my brother's house this weekend to work on the roost litter box shelf. I think I can, even with my limited carpentry ability, make something that is halfway acceptable.

For those who don't know...Wendel is an incredible coop/chicken carpenter. His chicken area is to die for. Now I can knit a sock but ask me to cut a straight line and I'm clueless. So I am always amazed at those who can create coops from thin air.

So I just checked the weather the next week. It's suppose to be 98 on both Saturday and Sunday and in the 90s the next week. WTH? Isn't it too early for such hot, hot weather?

the high park fire shifted today and is moving south...its about 1/2 mile from the inlaws and burning STRONG. My father in law is hanging out as close as they will let him and he said that some houses were catching fire and burning to the ground in 15 mins.
