Yay!!! The hatching eggs for my broody arrived. I think they were on my porch for all of thirty seconds before I ran out and grabbed them. :D Summer is all set up, I hear you need to let the eggs rest for a bare minumum of 12 hours before slipping them under the hen. Guess I am getting DH up at 4:30 am to swap them. I need to get them under her tonight while maximizing rest time.

Good grief, I haven't been this excited in months. :D

LOL! photos of chickens or from Rock Ledge Ranch? We got home last night at about 8 PM. Had a great time! Here is one of my favorite photos from the 4th of July:

It was good to see Sharon at the ranch!

Good luck on your hatch! I haven't had much luck with eggs from other places. I'm in lock-down now with my last batch of eggs with 4 eggs from my own flock. 12 hours doesn't seem long enough though.

What type of eggs did you get?

Quail Belgian D'Anvers. The eggs are sooo small, I almost laughed! I am trying to figure out a conundrum right now though. I ordered ten, she shipped fourteen! I dont know if my bantam brahma can cover them all. I feel almost like deal or no deal on that one; will I leave out a good fertile egg? Or will she kick some out of the nest if I put too many in? Or try to hatch all and get none? Ah, the trials of broodies...
