Ashley, thank goodness you are okay! Very shaken up I'm sure, but still here to remind us to look both ways, thank you!

wsmith (Wendell?) I'm glad Beth is home. Like many I am happy to assist if you need anything, I believe I'm not far from you during the day - work at exit 119. Don't hesitate to ask if you need a check-in, a bus stop pickup, run for groceries or supplies, etc.

Judi
Thanks Judi. We are all doing OK, all is under control. Thanks to everyone for their kind wishes and thoughts / prayers

Judi, Where in the world do you work off exit 119? WM? The power plant? Not a whole lot there,

Ashdoes,
That reminds me of an accident I witnessed a few years ago. Sadly the woman was in a Subaru with the long doors and she was t-boned. I was so ****** that at a major intersection my husband and I were the only people who filled out a report (also while we were trying to help the woman someone honked at us to move our car), I use to volunteer at a court and I know how helpful those reports can be. I am glad someone stayed and filled a report for you and that everyone is mostly okay. Don't take any back or neck pain for granted though.

I am glad your wife is home good luck with attempt two.

Thanks! Everything going well at chemo today, but we found out that she has to do it weekly now, instead of the previously planned bi-weekly. Cancer sucks!

I really need to go see my chickens this afternoon..... The kids have been taking care of them this week with all the other issues going on.

Cancer does indeed suck.

Went home and finally got to feed and water the chickens. While I was filling one of the waterers, I noticed something moving on the other side of the fence....... It was the female Narragansett turkey. She had flown over the fence and was pacing back and forth unable to figure out how to get back in. No idea how long she had been out. Caught her and put her by a waterer, and she drank for about 5 minute. Silly turkey!

EHook, I love Summer and I really lucked out that her breeder was willing to sell her after the show. I hope you have similar luck! Try the fair! Even if they arent listed for sale, if you leave your name and number they may have more that they didn't bring that they would be willing to sell.

WSmith- Hope things smooth out for you from here on. No more bad news! I think you've hit your quota for that.

I miss home. I'm in Texas right now and I'm not going back until next Friday. I keep pestering DH to send me pics of the chickies and DS, but he keeps forgetting about the chickies. He has been checking on them and making sure everything is good but he keeps forgetting the camera.

And, of course, DS has hit some milestones while I am away. He has figured out how to climb onto the furniture. He was working on that for at least two weeks before I left. And DH flipped his carseat so he faces forward (I call it the Cadillac Car Seat. Thing is huge, plush and will stick with him up to 65lbs). DH said he was shocked when he was strapped in facing forward and when he started driving DS giggled at every car that passed. And I missed it. Add to that crudy food and worse lodging and I have been having a less than steller week. I even tried adding hot sauce to the stroganuf (probably misspelled that but I am too tired to look it up). It helped enough for about four more bites to go down. Oh, and the fire alarm went off this morning at 5am. They misprogrammed the test time apparently. It went off two days early in the am instead of the pm. <DOH!>

wsmith, work for WM. At least once a week have to run out to the other location off Hwy 94 - was there today in fact.

So, I have to ask, are turkeys as ... simple as I keep hearing they are? I go back and forth about whether to try a couple of turkeys and/or ducks next year, just saw an ad on Craigslist the other day for "Miniature White Turkeys" - is there really such a thing? First I've heard of them, but I have been away from poultry a long time so no surprise, really. I only ever had some egglayers before, that was the goal this time around with the bonus of bug consumption, but I have been told Turkeys are champion grasshopper eaters, and ducks eat bugs and weeds without disturbing the plant you are trying to grow. This year it's only a few tomato, pepper and squash plants, grasshoppers decimated every seedling I got to sprout, and after the second time I gave up and decided it was time to have chickens again. Funny thing is, by the time I actually acquired the chickens, two pairs of robins raising young nearby had nearly wiped out the grasshoppers :)

Where in Texas are you? If you are near Dallas there are good places to eat like Keller's and El Finex. (misspelled) Most old BBQ restaurants are okay all around Texas.
