Oh how interesting!  What are the other 8?

Buckeye, Delaware, Java, Jersey Giant, New Hampshire, Old Type RIR, Plymouth Rock and Wyandotte.

Well, it's good to know the first two chickens we've decided to eat will taste good. I guess bad attitudes makes good meat?

We drove from Colo springs to North Carolina and it took us about 30 hours driving time. We stopped and slept each night, we didn't drive straight through.

If I didn't have my heart on my landrace flock, I'd be so tempted to get into Dominques. Not to compete with you but only because in knowing yours, I can understand completely what a great bird they are. From feed conversion to sweetness. My 2 little Doms are so incredibly gentle and so far, they seem consistent with their eggs. But my heart is truly in getting a nice flock of mutts.

My eggs have a great hatch rate, somewhere between 80-90%.
Roosters: 1 Silkie, 1 Bantam Brahma, 2 Blue Copper Marens
Hens: 10 White Leghorns, 5 Red Stars, 6 EE's, 4 SLW's, 1 Jersey Giant, 2 Spangled Hamburg mixes, 1 Bantam Brahma

A woman bought several dozen eggs for hatching this last fall and hatched out a lot of ee chicks, leghorn/silkie crosses, some were very tiny because my EE's were new layers and their eggs were small to begin with. You would get a great mix of different types of barnyard mutts out of these eggs.

our first hatchling EVER! Born about 30 mins ago...my 4 year old and 11 month old are still crowded around the bator...my 3 year old slept through the whole thing!

LOL. I had read that as well. Its also interesting to note that Dominiques and Javas, two of the list, were used to create another on the list, the Plymouth Barred RocK.
I was reading on the ALBC site about how to conduct a blind taste test using three heritage breeds. One of these taste tests were done a few years ago and the Buckeye and Dominique tied for first place!

Did they use Black Javas or Mottled? Assuming Black? Or is there a White?
