Colorado

While cleaning and packaging eggs to sell i found 22 eggs with small cracks, all from the first week in the new coop. Im sure we lost at least that many in the same week. The nest boxes in the new coop werent deep enough so the girls would kick out all the shavings and slam the eggs into the walls..it didnt help that the new layers' eggs arent as thick shelled as the older girls so they were cracking or getting smashed. i am so glad we redid the nest boxes in the new coop last weekend. No more cracked eggs unless i drop them. at least i can scramble them and give them to the chickens.

I got a question from a gentleman this morning on our Facebook page. He is from Colorado Springs and is looking for a local breeder of Australorps. He wants pullets only. Can anyone here nelp him out? You can let me know here and I will forward it to him, or you can go to our Facebook page and answer him there. Just click on the link in my signature. thanks

Well, looks like we're all still here! :) That's about the 6th "end of the world" I've lived through, how's your last Saturday before Xmas? Happy Yule and Solstice to all!
