Just curious as to what size bulb you ended up with and where you got it.

I ended up with a 250w red bulb from Wal-mart. I was going to go to Lowe's or HD again, but after the DIA run I wasn't in the mood to shop around.

Hi everyone! I'm not new to BYC, but I'd like to join in. I don't have chickens but I do have a pekin duck, named Soleil! I have to wait to get more land and then I will have my chickens

I feel you. I HATE running from store to store trying to find that one thing. And of course everyone has something close, but not quite right...

The 250w is doing good. I had to move the brooder out of the kitchen. Sunlight was causing the temps to jump drastically during the day<<Which I work so we'll see how they do on the north side of the house.

Super excited! I'm picking up my chicks tomorrow morning! I'm getting the brooder set up tonight.

How much was the red heat bulb at wal-mart? That's the one thing left I have to get. My ladies will be in the chilly garage, so I think the 250W is a good plan for me.

They're $9.99 @ Wal-mart, but I'd try Lowe's or HD 1st. I know i saw them @ Murdock's $12.99 for a 2 pack!

i go to northern co feeders supply and can get a red bulb for 6.95 and a white one for 7.95

Oh no! I just got a phone call from the woman I'm buying my chicks from! Apparently the label fell off the shipping box, so they only have my 3 Australorp chicks. New shipment of the rest of the babies next week. I guess I'll get some baby chick practice until then. Sad day, but three chicks are better than no chicks?

Am I going to run into issues adding more chicks in a week?
