Loving the big duck among the tiny chicks. Too cute. We've hit a minor snag with our ducks shipment. We had planned them to be here the week after hubby gets home, but he's been extended 7 days, so now we're hoping Metzer will push back the date for us. We really hate starting things while he's gone, so hopefully it works out. I'm still super excited for them to get here though.

Somebody in the northern Colorado area was looking for silver sebrights (I'm too lazy to figure out who right now)... They're going to have them at murdochs in longmont sometime in the next month. I'm having trouble remembering the date I saw, but they have a list hanging at one of the end caps nearest the chick setup. I believe it was on the chicken food aisle, but don't hold me to it.

Uh Oh. I just realized that we have not heard from Adam7 in a couple of days. You dont suppose he is in chick withdrawls and is curled up in a corner of his house,( probably the brooder that he built. Pretending he is a chick, do you? Whose turn was it to go check on him? Maybe his wife has him on lockdown.

It's been a long week. I finally made some time tonight to start working on my new incubator. I put a solid three or so hours into it tonight. I mounted my fan(I repurposed an old humidifier fan) and built the box. Still need to order the thermostat and the heat element. Gonna work on inlaying plexiglass in the door tomorrow. I'm beat.

If someone was looking for Marans, Elizabeth country corner has them. I pick mine up from them on the 1st. They are around $4 a chick.

Hi everyone!! I'm new and introduced myself a month or so ago. I'm in Fort Lupton. I finally got my first baby chicks yesterday. It took them about a month to come in. Love the place in Fort Collins that I got them. They have been awesome. So this is what I got yesterday 9 total. 3 americaunas, 1 Rhode Island Red, 1 barred Plymouth Rock, 1 partridge Plymouth Rock, 1 silver laced Wyandotte , 1golden laced Wyandotte, & 1 blk australorp. I'm in love. So today I called and went back to get 3 more. I got one more golden laced Wyandotte, 1 buff Orpington and 1 speckled Sussex. What's really cool is the lady didn't charge me a dime for the 3 I got today. Random act of kindness is super cool. Does anyone have input about any of the ladies? They seem to be settling in ok. My step dad built me a brooder box. Will have to post a pic.

Hello and welcome/welcome back! You have quite a variety there.....so you can have more than 10 chickens in Fort Lupton....I know the area is fairly rural. Nice brooder box too. Do you have your coop all set up? Would love to see pics of the chicks and your coop!

We got the netting up; wow, what a job. It is a single piece, so we had to stretch it and fit it, and staple the edges down. We got the ramps built and wood screwed down around the bottom of the fence to assure that chicks can't escape.

Here is a picture of pens one and two:

Jere is a shot of the completed pens 3-6

What a fantastic job! Looks wonderful..
