I wouldn't stress yet about that one. You will have lots of options if you get a roo. CL, BYC locals, chicken swaps,.....

I use Briargate Blvd Animal Hospital. They are really nice, and take great care of my animals. I do think they are a bit more expensive in some areas, but I've had several emergencies that they've handled amazingly. I had to put my cat down, but they gave me a lot of options and took great care of her while I had her. I still take my dogs there. They also keep all your vet records accessible online and email appointment reminders.

Woot woot! I picked up three more chicks from Big R in Monument. She said they were two weeks old! I didn't know they sold them that old, but it helps me out. She said they are pretty sure they had white leghorns and buff orpingtons. I attempted to get the buff orpingons, but I guess I could have a surprise. I'll post some pics when I get home and maybe you guys can help me play the guessing game!

Also, is it possible for a chick to have a tick? I swear that one of the pullets I just got from Big R has a twitch in it's head. On the ride home I kept hearing a pecking on the box. I opened it up, and she wasn't pecking but her head was quickly moving to the side and the side of her beak was hitting the box. I watched her for a bit and it seems like a pretty constant twitch between 30 seconds to a minute or two. Possible?

On a side note: I had to get rid of Sheldon, the duck. He was just too incredibly messy. I guess next time I'll do my research before purchasing a cute baby animal. He did go to a good home with 2 other ducklings his age. Whew - never again though.

I guess I'm going to go to the swap at Sweeny's this Saturday, unless something comes up. I'll bring my older pullets and if I have any of the pullets that will be 3 weeks old Saturday I may bring those as well, I still have the last 3 Delawares and Speckled Sussex and the mystery chick that I hazard a guess is probably a GLW cockerel, although at this age it's pretty hard to tell. Chick did you decide whether to go?

Neurologically speaking- yes, ticks are possible. Your BOs (Buff Orp) should have their gold feathers coming in. White Leghorns will have white feathers, I would assume, never having had any of those.

Onstad1 there's a vet on the south side (actually more like Security/Widefield/Fountain area) right on 85/87, James Graf, I think his practice is Fountain Creek or Fountain Valley Vet? Great vet, very caring, very honest, I used him until I moved to Pueblo, and even after that took a cat to him to be euthanized when she was at death's doorstep, and he was incredibly kind, waited for my son and Bob to get there to say goodbye even though he most certainly needed the exam room for other patients.

Yes correct, white feathers only on a White Leghorn, yellow legs, white earlobes. Buff Orps are gold or buff colored as the name implies - and while young it can be tough to tell which is which if they aren't side by side, but the BOs should have red earlobes as they lay brown eggs, and I can't think right off the top of my head what color legs they have.

Oh awesome! Thanks guys! I guess I will inspect them better when I get home and post a pic or two. Maybe I can catch a video of the twitchy one. Do you think that could cause future issues aside from maybe being picked on by the big bullies?
