Great we find an area we love, new houses on 1.5+ acres, near to my husbands work. Get ready to make an offer and find out that they only allow cat or dog and only 2. What is the reason of 1.5 acres if you can't have animals. I feel awful I would sacrifice my girls (even though I love them) to give my husband everything he wants but it would make him miserable knowing I gave them up. Is it wrong of me to expect my relator to look in to zoning before we get to the making an offer stage, I called the city and found this out.
Your realtor should have asked if you want animals and want kind. We bought a house last year and I absolutely said I want to be zoned for chickens and I wanted a strong well.
They don't want to waste their time or yours.
Tell you realtor everything on your wish list and order of importance.

I received my dozen "blue breeds" eggs from MyPet Chicken today. This is what I received:

Blue Splash Marans - 5
Blue Andalusians - 2
Blue Ameraucana - 3
Blue Orpingtons - 3

These are the "Blue Breed" eggs.

Yes, if you add them up, we received 13 eggs. They must send a baker's dozen! I was kind of bummed that I didn't get any BLRW. That is what I was really after. Oh well, these will be fun. It's going to be a hard 24 hours waiting on the eggs to rest before I fire up the incubator again! I have another dozen eggs going in with them. I have a dozen eggs from a full blood Black Copper X Olive Egger, Blue Copper Rooster X Blue Copper or Americauna, and Black Copper X Americauna or Olive Egger.

These are the barnyard maran eggs.

I have 16 chicks that are a few days old plus these 25 eggs. If I can get another successful hatch of 12-16 chicks I will have a bunch of chickens and only room for 10. Would anyone be interested in any roos that might come of this series?

Arapahoe doesn't do birds. I don't know of any processors who do birds for the public. I work at the Boulder's Farmers Market and I now the people who sell birds there only process their own.
I think your best bet it to hook up with Wendell and roll up your sleeves and learn how to process your own birds with his help and equipment.
How much do you charge a bird with help Wendell?

Who is Wendell?

They look yummy.....

No charge. I'm just helping you learn how to do it.....and assisting......They should be REALLY tasty in two months. at 16 weeks they will be OK for a fryer, but not very big. They will still be tender and have great flavor.
You know... I just saw the info on ChickenFest. I think I'll bring this pair along and see if someone wants them, then maybe I can pick up a couple of pullets :)

e name="crcfarm1" url="/t/68894/colorado/14190#post_10962227"]I want to get my coop up this weekend too, but I'll gladly take the snow, just no more wind. I am sort of ready for my five peeps to be out of our guest bathroom though.  They have reached the stage where staying in the doggie pool we brought in for their brooder quarters just isn't interesting anymore so they have to check out everything else.  They get into every nook and cranny and the cats are having a blast trying to take a swipe at them under the door everytime they get close. Does anyone know at what age they start clucking instead of peeping? Right now they sound like the songbirds that wake me up at 3 in the morning.

My girls are 10 weeks old and they do a combination of peeping and clucking.....actually only one of my girls still peeps (Patty the Araucana), my other two cluck or make some kind of sound I can't really describe, but it's not peeping!

I will post pics when I get home but Logan was born at 0307 this morning. My water broke around 1030 last night and he DH about lost his mind with getting me to the car. I went from random little contractions every 20 or 30 minutes to strong ones every 3 in a blink.

We are still in the hospital and Logan and I are doing great. Little guy is exhausted and just wants to sleep so far.

I am loving watching the snow from our room. :)

Congrats on your newborn son!! :D
