Anyone catch my hubby on Ice Cold Gold last night?? Its crazy watching him get "famous"!

Today was such a perfect day! I was off work to enjoy it and be productive

AnnaV goregous coop!

I tried twice to watch at least part of the show but I was in bed already and fell asleep. When cats make sure you sleep no later than 4 am, prime time is bed time LOL.

My little wry necked Silkie is not improving and I am losing hope. Won't give up unless it appears there is no hope.

I hatched 4 Cochin chicks a month ago, they were from a BBS pen (shipped eggs), and two are black. They are pretty, but I was after another blue, which I got, and the 4th chick is silver colored, which I didn't expect but I was advised to hang onto it at least for the time being to see how it matures, so those two will stay and I'll bring the two black ones with me to the Denver Urban Homesteading swap this Saturday. Is anyone else going to that?

I have it on the DVR and just need to find some time to watch. I was going to watch last night and then was busy running the boys to and from football practice and weight training. I can't wait until my 16 year old is comfortable driving. He got his license but still doesn't want to drive by himself! So strange, I was so excited to drive and we have had to push him through the entire process!

How will I be able to tell which one is your DH? Will it be obvious? I will watch it tonight and let you know.

I posted this over on the Natural Chicken Keeping thread but thought I would share here as well. One of my Catdance Silkie chicks, hatched February 10th, in the course of a day developed wry neck. I can home from work Thursday and Bob said there was something wrong with one of my "fluffy ones," that it kept looking at the ceiling but with only one eye. I brought it inside, checked carefully and was not able to locate any indication of injury or illness, did some quick research because I have never seen this before and I didn't know if I needed to euthanize immediately or try treatment. I found many treating with Poly Vi Sol without the added iron, Vitamin E, and one added Selenium to make the E easier to absorb. A fellow Silkie owner on NCK said Silkies are notorious for wry neck, that it can be treated, and that treatment should continue up to 3 weeks.

This poor little thing really can't drink so I am giving her a cc of water at a time with a syringe, have given mashed and moistened food a few times the same way but found she will eat on her own and especially if she is offered scrambled egg, so she gets a bowl-lid full at a time with some crumble on top. She HATES the Poly Vi Sol. Not crazy about Vitamin E either.

As with crossed beak, no certainty I've found so far that this is or is not genetic, so both pullets I hatched from Catdance will be here as broodies only. <sigh> Last thing I want to do is burden some future owner with a problem I know about and breed anyway.

My broody Cochin is still sitting on three eggs - she booted out one of the Black Silkie eggs, I brought it in to candle and she was right, it was a quitter. Maybe that means the two RIR and remaining Black Silkie eggs are good. Sure hoping!

I'm still wicked behind but wanted to answer this before squirrel syndrome got to me.

I had one of my silkies that also had this. I treated all the babies with vitamins in their water and the situation quickly resolved itself.

The cross beak was not an issue with my Beakers at all. I just had to keep the beak trimmed. I've redone my area now with hot wire so do not believe that I'll have an Anakin attack anymore or he's going to find a nice home someplace else if you want to find your beakers a new home.

As for how I'm doing, I'm ok. One of the hens laying the dark olive egg is still with me. I have an incubator full and the colloncas are on the way sometime this week. The huastecs and others are coming.

I'm still working on a structure that I can put into my hard that they can get under so that if, Gd Forbid, another predator should find itself out there, they can hide. I use to have tablelike structure when they mostly free ranged and it saved them many times. I grew complacent in their new area as it is very secure, or so I thought.

Anyways, the wry neck should resolve itself with vitamins. I've only had one like that and she is actually one of the babies under the broody hen now. She made it but I still supplement their drinking water with poultry vitamins.

I may go to the Denver swap Saturday. It depends on how many chicks I have on hand by Friday. I still have some Cuckoo Marans, EEs, light Brahmas and Buff Orphington chicks plus two started chicks (Jersey Giant and Speckled Sussex).

We might go check out the swap this weekend. Ive never been and am real new to this.

Were from Littleton too.

Congratulations to the girl with the famous husband!
