Just throwing out my update.
Finally got a couple of eggs in November. Excited the girls started to lay. Got 3 or 4 and then nothing. Walked around the yard looking in their fav spots. Didn't see any more. Thanksgiving morning, headed to work and 2 girls are missing. Walked around and found nothing. Woke the missus as I had to leave. She is out the door in a minute and searching. Behind a piece of plywood, nailed to the fence, about 5" wide, she finds 5 little brown eggs. Further searching find a dozen more under a trampoline cloth. Had to pick it up to even see where the eggs were and how they got in. Then this freeze comes on. Have a few frozen eggs due to the varied laying times.
My son collected his chickens (of course, after they start to lay) I've had them since August. One of my friends little ladies is a rooster. Bought her from a local, but that's the way it goes. He is mostly quiet so far. No complaints from the neighbor. She is still deciding what to do. It's gonna be freezer camp or re-homing. Her decision.
My four girls are doing fine. Three seem to be laying little blue eggs. Waiting for the four per day stage. I'm keeping up so far.
