I wanted to share a few pictures of the hatch from this weekend - Colorado Mayahns - all seem to be doing well and are listed on Craigslist, will be updating my post on the Buy-Sell-Trade thread here as well, but I wanted to put them here first to share with all my Colorado peeps!

LOL Yes I know what you mean, the pale grey and tan chick to the left appears to be rumpless Hatched from a blue egg, so that combined with rumplessness means at least half Collonca.

I hatched this weekend too. I'm pleased to report that the two times my temp dropped down to 92 and 95 overnight didn't have a detrimental effect. 8/10 hatched on the usual timeline. One egg was infertile and one is still in the incubator for another 24 hours.






This is one of my Olive Egger hopefuls.

This one's mother is a Light Brahma.


This BO cross had a beak out on Day 18 before I even had a chance to put the eggs on lockdown. I've never had one pip that early.

Candled this morning. 88% viability! Only 3 that didn't start.

88% is outstanding compared to last years first candling. Sending good vibes your way for a successful hath.
I have 8 chicks in the brooder, one just hatched in the incubator and another 5 that have not pipped yet. I will keep them in the incubator for a few more days, just in case.
Buff orpingtons, 1 leghorn. one BR cross with leghorn and three gray silkies for the moment. I will take a couple of picks shortly.
I am glad to hear about more hatching chicks. I cant believe I actually missed the cheeping from last year. They sure are cute.
I believe I will call it a succesfull hatch for the test incubator.

congrats to all of you who are hatching! It is so fun and exciting
Today we moved our chicks out of the house and to the garage. They are 3 weeks old, still have the heat lamps going. Tonight I am going to clean, dust, and vacuum!! This hatch I used paper towels instead of pine shavings and that helped a ton with the dust. But this last 5 days the downy fluff was everywhere.

I am still waiting on 5 eggs. But here are a couple pics of the nine in the brooder. It looks like the three silkies so far. Will be a black, gray and a possible silver. They are crashed out in various stages of relaxation. It must ba hard work hatching out of an egg. They sure are cute.
