Man, you guys hatched a lot! Is this amount a normal hatch for you? If I had more space & definitely more money, I would have loved to keep hatching. :)

I have really only hatched about 40 to 50. Most i have either given away to my neighbor ir sold. You hatch so you can sell them and make more money. It really does not cost much to hatch them. Just to care for them afterwards. If you can sell them before you hatch them then all the better. You should have a decent time doing this with the breeds that you have buou would just need to find buyers.
Your little ones are getting pretty big. I am glad you are enjoying them. Sorry to hear about you one little. Keep your head up and have a good time with them.

lindzkg,

How did the intro go with the little one? Hoping they are getting along better today.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

@21hens-incharge

Sorry for the late response, all is well in our house! I just freaked out a little :rolleyes: haha the big girls kept getting into the little girls box, so we just put them all together in a large one and everyone's been friendly ever since.

Thank you. I have been enjoying watching each group develop & grow. I have a hard time remembering that the 2 mixed chicks started out as tiny as they did, but that could be the brain damage. :D

Hello from (hopefully) the Denver area!

My husband and I are looking for a free-standing rural rental home/farm in the vicinity of Denver/Littleton. My husband is an aerospace engineer who just got his dream job in the Denver area. I work in animal science. We are also homesteaders.

If any of you good folks knows of a place that would accept a dog, cats, ducks, and geese and has room for a large garden, would you drop me a line?

A little bit more about us:

--We have excellent credit and excellent references
--We do not smoke
--We garden like crazy, and would be more than happy to share produce (and eggs) with our landlord
--We also make chocolate, and would be happy to share that, too

Thank you so much!

Denver is out. It allows max of 8 chickens and ducks no geese. "Denver" covers a huge area. How far are you willing to commute? 45mins from downtown Denver will put you in the foothills to the W or ag land to the E. The rental market is out of control and overpriced with no relief in sight. Cheaper to buy.
