Colorado

Nope, sorry no RIRs here.

I got a little carried away at Big R this week... we now have 5 turkey poults, 4 ducklings and 20 chicks in brooders in my house LOL! It's nice and fun now but in a couple of weeks I may be begging everyone to pray for good weather so I can move the brooders outside because my house will be stinking.

How fun!! I was just looking at Craigslist and there are Pomeranian goslings for sale.

You must reside in Greeley area that is the only Big R I have seen in years. What kind of chicks and ducklings, turkeys did you get? I have to wait till April to get mine. Still looking for RIR eggs. I would even go into Wyoming. Going to Casper on the 2nd of April, so if anyone out there in WY has any eggs let me know. Thks

No, we're near Calhan and shop at the Falcon Big R. Yea this is how I got my name, there's no animal I can't get suckered into owning.

I'm pretty sure we have white Pekin ducks, one BBB poult and I'm guessing the other 3 poults are BR's .. I have no idea what most of the chicks are, BYC friends say one I couldn't figure out is an Ancona (which will be our first white egg layer) and maybe some partridge rocks. I know I grabbed a few silkies but everyone else is just going to be a surprise when they get bigger LOL!

Why are you so set on RIR's?

There's this ad too, and I know I saw a couple with RIR's:

I am set on RIR for a breeding stock with the white rocks. I want to try my hand at making Golden comets. I have 22 Comets now with a couple older RIR, 2 SLW, and one Brown Leghorn. I really like the comet and with the 28 total birds I regularly get 19 eggs a day with a record total of 23 in one day. They are cold hardy, non broody, and very pleasent to be around. I have never breed chicken let alone had a roo but I would like to try and I usually raise 50 birds a year to pullets for several people locally. I am on my 2nd bator full of eggs I am hatching out for a local BYC so she can replenish her stock. The first batch went home 10 days ago and it's a good thing her bator wigged out and lost the whole batch. She recently lost 20 of her 40 hen to a fox.

Hey, does anyone need any animals transported from here in Colorado over to the east coast? I am trying to get up funds to help pay for a trip over there. We are leaving the 4th of April which is a Sunday and traveling all that week. I already have some goats to bring from Virginia to Texas for one lady, and some goats of our to pick up in Tennessee, but I have nothing in the trailer from here to the coast, and room from the coast back. I am also trying to find a way to afford a pair of Alpacas that are super cheap in Ohio while I'm over there so I really need the "work"

Everyone weather this last storm okay? We're on the Palmer Divide and while it doesn't look like we got much over 4 inches of snow the wind has kicked up some drifts that have effectively snowed us in for today. Luckily, we have some nice days coming up that will allow everything to melt. I want to start planting in my greenhouse in a couple of weeks.
