Hi Coloradoans! I really want to place an order with Shamrock Farms for Welsummer chicks to be delivered in May. The owner is a BYC'er. He has high quality bantam and LF Welsummers, Welsummers, Blue/Wheaton Marans, and coronation sussex. Here is his website:

http://shamrockfarm.webs.com/welsummerlargefowl.htm

He requires 15 chick orders. I am going to buy some chicks from Alpine Farm, and am only in need of 4 Welsummers. Is anyone interested in splitting an order? I am on the Western slope, but would be happy to deliver chicks to the Denver area. I would even pay all the shipping costs for the full delivery.

PM or email me if you are interested.

Hi All! I've been floating around this thread for a while but I haven't had anything to add/ask as yet. BUT...

Does anyone know where/when chicks will be available? I was cruzing Craigslist and found that a feed store in Elizabeth is taking orders for next month. They have a HUGE list of breeds available but they are soooo far out there. I'm going to check out the two feed stores here in the Springs but does anyone else out there know some good possibilities?

I'm planning on getting three more chickens and the coop to go with them (DH's building it). I don't want to do MPC again; the shipping was just too much to justify if there are chicks available locally.

I'm in the Springs too! For some reason I though I heard that Circle F was going to have some chicks. Or maybe it was Co Agrifeed off of Austin Bluffs.

I called Agrifeed, they'll start on March 16th. They'll start with standard breeds and move into the more "rare" breeds through the season. You can order through them too, but they have a 25 bird minimum. Might wanna find someone to split with or buy a 25 bird lot and sell the extras on craigs list (pople in town might even pay a premium to go through you instead of having to drive out east.

Circle F does not have any chicks anytime of the year, they referred me to Agrifeed

Rockin B in Black Forest said they will have some mid march. All kinds of breeds and they can order what breeds you'd want. Their minimum order is one bird, lol. She said she can add it to an oder she has to place. She seemed super nice.

Hope that helps!

Thanks mrsengeseth! I went and stopped by Big R in Fountain; they are getting chicks in March; they didn't say what day though. The guy working there said that they get a whole mix of chicks and just put up the pictures to try and match against what you want. They also have both sexed and straight run to pick from. He wasn't too helpful with what they're getting in. They get what they are sent and thats it. He remembered that last year they had turkens and 'ones with featered feet' in the mix.
