Thats great, I dont ask my hubby anymore , he often doesnt even notice when I sneak in new birds. It would be hard not to notice one of my silver roosters though. They are already bigger at 7 months than my 1 1/2 yr old Light Sussex roo, should get well over 10 lb. I read somewhere I think on this site that Coronations are sometimes used to brighten the silver on Silver Sussex. I also have a Coro roo I may part with soon...

Enjoy!! It will be some time before I offer any more percentage English birds as most are part of ongoing projects, and probably a while longer than that before there will be any of the 100% English orps.

I'll let everyone know the next time he heads that way so that orders can be placed for rare/import eggs, chicks, and juveniles.

That would be great! I like to add new blood to my flocks and its nice to buy locally . That little Cochin hen I got from you is just the cutest, she is such a solid little thing I have to pick her up every time I see her!

Unfortunately, yes. It was on 20/20 lastnight. The whole place should be shut down. Heartbreaking. And they showed the little chicks having their beaks burned off. Just killed me.....

At least 2 people saw it. Thanks. I sent that link to my mom who loves the girls as much as I do. She wrote back "good for mcdonalds" Huh?

I should have been more specific the first time. What i meant was 'who would ever eat at mcdonalds in the first place?' The fact sparboe even exists is disgusting.

Our biggest rooster is "harvested" and in the fridge. Tuesday I'll take it out and soak it in a brine of water, salt, garlic and onion. Wednesday evening I'll put it in the crockpot with poultry seasoning.

We have eggs coming out of our ears. Out of our 20 standard-sized girls, we get between 5 and 10 eggs a day. Our 7 bantam eggers give 1-4 eggs a day and our 3 bantam silkies usually give 1 a day. Anyone needs a dozen (or 5!!) eggs for Thanksgiving cooking/baking, give me a holler (e-mail). A dozen mixed sized eggs is $3.00.

I have a couple of bantam blue silkies for sale. Actually look dark grey but have the blue earlobes. Both hatched Feb 2011. The boy, who we call Silkie Dude, has curled toes but that doesn't stop him from anything. He has the cutest crow. The girl, Silkie Dudette, is sweet and lays a beautiful creamy-white bantam egg once a week or so. Normal for silkies. Both are sweet.

She'll probably go broody in Spring for you to hatch your own eggs. And I'm sure he will try to fertilize any hen he can get near!

Right now they are in the garage with a heat-lamp and a light we turn on and off. Were going to butcher him since no one wanted him but couldn't bear to do it. He got lonely so gave him a girlfriend, and now the other bantam chickens don't want her back.

Come get them for $5 for both.

If you have a good home to offer them, PM or e-mail me asap.
