Colorado

Ok, the new eggs are under Summer! Had to kick her out of the coop for her mandatory once every three days sunshine dose and figured I would swap the eggs while I was at it.

Thanks again Coloradogal! She has eight eggs now; the four you gave me and four from a Silkie enthusiast. Now the pain of the Great Wait. :D

I Live up in Latigo, which is just east of Eastonville, and the birds I get from Big R are always beutifull birds, but I do agree with you on the gamble of what breed it is. (I usually just get ducks, which are easy to tell apart). You might also try Falcon Feed, they are right behind Big R, the owners are our neighbors, and from what I have heard, they are super kind! If you ask, I'm sure they could place a special order for you if they don't have any in in August.

I love Falcon Feed... It's the first place I always go for things and they are generally very good about special ordering things. Usually you just have to ask. Ideal is still shipping...so might try them.

Not sure what I am doing wrong with eggs..if its a freshness issue or an elevation issue. I just can't seem to get a good hard boiled egg

I picked up a Russian SKS today...so very excited about that and also a 1918 sportorized winchester. I hear the rifle range calling my name this weekend.

Anyone want to go with?

My brother dropped off a young pullet who was being beat up by the bigger hens... She's suppose to be a brahma but i'm not so sure. she's from the hatchery but is not to standard so the other hens in the flock (he has brahmas) were beating her up.

That's my day.... still going at it though.

man, i'm beat! Daycare kids, cleaning house, made 2 batches of peach jam, 1 batch of peach preserves, 1 giant peach smoothie..... i still have to finish mopping the kitchen, taking care of the garden, cleaning the coop.... it never ends!

Moron alert!

Thinking I'd be proactive and nip my very minor fly "problem" in the bud, I went and bought a fly trap. As I'm setting it up I think to myself, "this stinks so bad it's only going to attract more flies." Do I listen to my intuition and toss it? Noo. I think who would sell a product knowing it would make things worse? I went from 2-3 somewhat bothersome flies to 50+ very bothersome flies. Uhhhhg.

Thankfully I, just yesterday, purchased some DE. Spread a fairly heavy dose around coop and run and presto...no more flies...

Live and learn...moral if the story "Fly bait attracts flies" ; )
