Colored Egg Breeders Thread

These eggs were laid by my Leghorns. (covering head and running for safety.) 20210404_065502.jpg

But seriously--how good are EEs at going broody and raising chicks? Some of them? Most of them? I just started with chickens in late October, and am now reading up on EEs. Is there some sort of pattern to breeding them to lay one color of egg or another?

I mainly have ameraucanas but neither them or the EE’s go broody very often, I’ve heard people say different but that’s just my experience. I used to have Brahmas and they were constantly broody.

And yes mainly just different shades of green to blue. Most pale greens are EEs or mixes. Ameraucanas are blue to bluish greens and most of the olive eggers are cross to marans or another dark egg layer

Too bad they don't go broody more often. They look like they'd be fun to try, and there are some that have really pretty feathering.
